Fks or sth 16

im 6 ft tall and about 150 pounds, i would say above average park ability. what would be better/safer fks 140, fks 180, or the salomon sth 16, which i have been using for 2 years but feel there kinda shaky. I just broke my fks 120 brakes today trying to bend them so now i need to deiced what to get.
 
i do in fact know someone, so i take it you think fks? but what size 140/180?
 
you know they will be avalible in shops. Not going to find them at Sports Authority, but your local specialty shop (that carries dynastar/lange/rossi) should have them. Just not a lot of them.
 
STH are the only bindings i trust after FKS, so if you cant get a pair of those stick with the STH's. Ive also heard great reviews on the tyrolia peak or mojo series, but never wanted to spend that much money to try them out in case i didnt like them..
 
^ Mojos are awesome bindings. I only put FKS, STH with driver toes, and Mojo(or equivalents) on my skis.

OP: Your dealing with the two top bindings on the market, honestly, you can't go wrong with either. If it was me I'd get the cheaper one.

FKS (18):

-Awesome elasticity and smooth consistent release through the turnable heel

-Burly all metal construction, these things last ages

-Light for an all metal binder

-Small footprint allows ski to flex more natually

-Puts you super close to your ski.

-Have to bend brakes on wider skis

-Need to make sure theres absolutely no snow on your boot/binding when putting them on in pow

STH16:

-Super adjustable toe peice to make it fit super snugly to your boot toe. Good for worn boots

-Also got burly construction

-Spheric release toe which is an awesome toe piece

-Lighter than the FKS

-Wider hole pattern less prone to ripping out but i've never had a problem with FKS personally.

-Some parts are plastic

-Can need frequent adjustment

STH's are going to be easier to pick up cheap in BST here or TGR due to the larger supply available, but if you have rossi connections it doesn't sound like that will be a problem. That being said, your not going to be getting any big discounts on FKS even if you know people. STH 16's can be had brand for $150 reasonably easily if you spend some time looking for them.

 
the STH heel also releases weird and is inconsistent... so you will need to ski at a higher heel din to keep from pre-releasing on the STH then on the pivots (heel only)
 
i heard the sth has really good shock absorption. is this true and does fks have good absorption too?
 
you weigh 150 pounds and want FKS 18's, theres absolutely no need for that man if you ride a 311-330 boot and are a level 3 skier thats a 7 din man and if you even crank it up to 10 (not nocking you but ns is full of kids who love to claim how high there dins are) there is still no need to get 18's bro id do sth 14 even though people nock solly bindings all day on here
