Fks or marker griffons?

I don't know why a lot of people here say that marker griffons are rubbish. I have them on my armadas and my k2s and they've been great. I also know a lot of people who use them and I've never heard of anything breaking.
I like the FKS a lot. I'd even consider them for my next skis. The only problem I can see is that if you change your boot size slightly you wont be able to adjust the heel piece back and forward. You need a remount because the heel piece is screwed in at a fixed location.
 
as an owner of both fks's and jesters i would have to say it depends on your intended use for the binding. i have fks on my park skis and the jesters on my pow skis. ill warn you that putting fks's on after a fall especially when on a steep slope or deep in pow is a BITCH (surprise storm.. i wasnt properly equipped). but if its for a park ski then there is no better binding out there than the fks.
 
not exactly true. there is a little room for adjustment on the fks's (screws on the end of the rod connecting the heel piece to the pivoting disk) but it is really hard to adjust it perfectly as each side has to be done evenly. but either way if you dont know what you are doing... take it to a shop.
 
I have demo griffons which are amazing cuz I can move them up give centimeters and back 5.... Also I can move them easily when my boots sizes get bigger

Not really a fair comparison, Jester vs FKS is better.

FKS for park, Jester for pow. As above - FKS can be a bitch to get back in in deep snow, especially if you've had a monster bail and the heelpiece is all backwards and shit.
 
Not really related but i just had a dream where i was skiing and i knuckled a big jump and when i got up my jesters toepieces were shattered ! :(

this morning when i woke up, i had a serious hate towards marker jesters, thinking they were crappy bindings, until i got outta bed and saw that my skis were fine :)

 
Yup the grey plastic on my grifons last year snapped in half. But I came up short on a jump and under rotated so i cant say they failed because I put a huge amount of tention on them. And marker replaced them so I cant complain. I would go with the fks' though.
 
I own griffons and for user who trashed on them, I personally never had one problem. They have hit trees, urban rails and have 150+ days of use and they are still going strong.

That being said the FKS's are sick bindings and I have heard a lot of good reviews, but I don't have first hand experience.

If you have the money go with the FKS's, but if you're stuck on cash the griffons are not a bad binding at all.
 
I don't know why people find fks so hard to put on in pow. Are they harder than most other bindings? Yeah. But by no means are they a bitch. Within a week of using them, you should be able to figure out how to do it without too much trouble.
 
No they aren't. It's actually really easy since you can just grab the dildo and use it to pull the ski onto your boot until the binding engages.

FKS vs. Griffons can't be what you meant because that's like comparing a Ford Focus to a Ferrari. FKS vs. Jesters is debatable but several pairs of Jesters have met their match and you'd be hard pressed to find some pictures of destroyed FKS 155's. As said above, the metal Salomon STH stuff is awesome too.
 
this. I hardly ever clicked into FKS I had like a normal binding. I just grabbed it and wiggled it on and made sure it was in the right position.
 
It's really metal vs plastic. FKS has so much metal vs griffons and even jesters. To me, durability is better then ease of getting into in pow. I'd rather it take me more time to get into my binding while I'm motionless then failure of plastic while in motion.
 
You guys bitching about putting your bindings on in deep snow a) need to learn how to put skis on in terrain and snow, and b) don't care about the performance of your bindings enough.

Jesters flat out suck.

s916/STH16 need to be cranked down due to the inconsistent release in the heel.
 
QUESTION

If the brake breaks, do you have to take the whole binding off to replace it? or is it pretty simple like the jesters and other bindings?
 
this seriously. i've only been using fks 185 and 155 on my pow skis for the past 5 or so years. i dont get why people thing they're hard to put on, just brush the snow off like you would with any other binding and you're good to go.
