Fixing a mini fridge?

we have a mini fridge in our dorm room, and it just recently stopped working. we tried a different outlet and everything but nothing seems to be working. it is a chefmate fridge- what could be the problem and how do i go about fixing it?
 
how long have you had it? if its been over a year then fuck it buy a new one, under a year then take it back the the place you got it and tell them your going to leave them yours and your going to take a new one and you dont want any questions asked.......................
 
i got the fridge for free so its not a huge deal, but i don't really want to buy another one... i dont know how old it is though. it looks new and somebody down the hall has the same one but different colors and they just bought it so it isnt too old.

what kind of places can repair them?
 
make sure it's not something like the thermostat just being turned down/off. if that's not it, then i would refer to a warranty or something to see if it's covered. a minifridge is a simple device; a fancy-looking cooler with a thermostat and a compressor. if it is not something simple, then it's most likely your compressor. let me remind you that compressors work with compressed coolant gasses, so you definitely don't want mess with that.
 
Dont toy with anything in the back because I prolly doesnt have a service valve. They come sealed from the factory. if you had any type of power surge it could have fried the compressor, usualy just easier to buy to buy a new fridge. A common problem that Ive seen with those is they get a small leak and loose refrigerant. But that would be if you hear it turn on and it just doesnt get cold.
 
ah man you got it. somebody must have turned the thermostat too far because i spun it around and it clicked back into place when it hit 1. i think somebody just tried to spin it past 1 and it snot supposed to go that far. +k
