Fivefingers?

I've heard a ton of sweet things about them, comfortable, durable, waterproof. I want to pick up a pair at some point

those look dope.100 bucks isnt that bad either i guess. i would definitely buy them.

anyone have experience with them? blisters/corns that kinda thing.

Those are from what I hear, very comfortable for hiking.

I would get a pair, but the cheapest pair is $75

i like the idea, but i wouldnt rep em

if im running on grass id rather just be barefoot

if im running on the road id rather have real shoes.

Ive been looking at these for so long ever since i read "Born to Run" but ya not enough places to use them in ohio but if i lived somewhere were there is a lot of trails then i would definately get a pair but until then its pounding it out on the sidewalk

My brother has a set and he loves them.
They force you to run more on your toes which makes your ankles absorb more of the impact which strengthens your calves and relieves force from your knees.
Thats just what I've heard

i have two pairs now, one for running the other for hiking, and i got rid of all of my other shoes except skate shoes. super awesome.

I have a pair of Vaels and they have vibram soles on them. some of the comfiest things in the world. just find shoes that use their components

my dad is in the health/fitness industry, and one of the guys he works with wont wear anything but these shoes for casual or sport related things. he says they are really great

These are the exact opposite of what you want in a climbing shoe. Climbing shoes are meant to be super tight and essentially squish all your toes together to create one strong platform so you can edge on dime sized ledges. I'd like to see someone put all their weight on their pinky toe in these things.

Also, to the person that said they are good for hiking, they have no ankle support what so ever so I don't think that makes any sense at all.

What they are good for is barefoot running (without having to deal with glass etc.), water sports, etc. Very cool shoes, I have a ton of friends who love them.

i bought myself a pair of these the other day actully... they are amazingly comfy and you can do whatever you want in them... swim, bike, run, its like wearing a glove on your foot that is too comfortable to describe

My brother decided to buy them for working out and trail running. They...really didn't last that long. In his words"Why would I warranty this shit? they were 80 bucks and fell apart after 2 months."

I've heard amazing things about these shoes from all sorts of runners. They essentially make you run the way our bodies were built to run without all that nike shox and huge 2" cushion underneath our heels
I also heard this book was very good and talked about the secrets of barefoot style running

Book Description:Christopher McDougall sets off to find a tribe of the world’s greatest distance runners and learn their secrets, and in the process shows us that everything we thought we knew about running is wrong.
Isolated by the most savage terrain in North America, the reclusive Tarahumara Indians of Mexico’s deadly Copper Canyons are custodians of a lost art. For centuries they have practiced techniques that allow them to run hundreds of miles without rest and chase down anything from a deer to an Olympic marathoner while enjoying every mile of it. Their superhuman talent is matched by uncanny health and serenity, leaving the Tarahumara immune to the diseases and strife that plague modern existence. With the help of Caballo Blanco, a mysterious loner who lives among the tribe, the author was able not only to uncover the secrets of the Tarahumara but also to find his own inner ultra-athlete, as he trained for the challenge of a lifetime: a fifty-mile race through the heart of Tarahumara country pitting the tribe against an odd band of Americans, including a star ultramarathoner, a beautiful young surfer, and a barefoot wonder. With a sharp wit and wild exuberance, McDougall takes us from the high-tech science labs at Harvard to the sun-baked valleys and freezing peaks across North America, where ever-growing numbers of ultrarunners are pushing their bodies to the limit, and, finally, to the climactic race in the Copper Canyons.Born to Run is that rare book that will not only engage your mind but inspire your body when you realize that the secret to happiness is right at your feet, and that you, indeed all of us, were born to run.

First, barefoot running is no secret if you are a runner and are anywhere decent. Second, when people like you post that book all the idiots on NS go read it, proceed to buy these 5 finger shoes and run 40 mile weeks. Then they get injured and ruin whatever sport/ lifestyle they were doing. I know of double digit amounts of people who have done exactly that:

-Read book

-Freak the fuck out, think they have the bloodlines of Native Americans

-Buy shitty shoes

-Run too much, get injured.

And plus, these Indian dudes have been running barefoot for GENERATIONS. YOU WHITE SUBURBAN KIDS HAVE NOT. So dont buy these 80 dollar shoes until you run ease into barefoot goddamn running. Like once a week on grass and so on upwards.

Clean the sand out of your vag you fuck
No shit barefoot running is no secret, I never said that I simply copied and pasted the book description off amazon
Of course you can't just plop these shoes on and expect to be an amazing runner, your body has to use muscles it isnt accustomed to using and running in these shoes should be done in stages
That being said these shoes are a great purchase for a runner (2-4 times a week) like myself who has knee/ankle/ and hip problems from years of contact sports..I got a pair a few weeks ago and I'm already able to feel relief on my joints which have been injured (not solely) by running with fancy running shoes

You're correct that they're not good for climbing, but many people swear by them for hiking. Personally I use mine for running and that's about it.

I have a pair of the Treks, and absolutely love them, I where them every where. Now the first few times out you should take it easy cause you are really on the balls of your feet, and it works your calfs like crazy. Wearing them hiking is good too, who every said they have no ankle support, your ankle can support itself. (for example I have terrible ankles, rolled both a number of times worst then you can imagine, most times I run I'll sprain or roll it a little or a lot. Wearing the fivefingers haven't had one roll or sprain, knock on wood. I run on trails, single track bike trails and they're great) I've even wore them surfing.

I would recommend them to anyone who does lots of outdoors activities and wants a super comfortable shoe. You can put them on in the morning and wear them all day and not mind them.

Go FiveFingers!

That's like saying you shouldn't wear a helmet because your skull is designed to handle impacts... Proper hiking boots add ADDITIONAL support that your ankles can't offer no matter how conditioned you are. For light trails these are probably fine (similar to how "light trail shoes" are appropriate for certain conditions), but for any real hiking your going to want a proper hiking boot. I can't tell you how many times my boot has saved my ass in the middle of no where from rolling my ankle.

Saying they are great for hiking simplifies the situation wayyy to much.

I have a pair and I really love them. I don't run, but I love outdoors and the pleasure of feeling the soft soil under your feet is worth the price of the shoes alone.

I bought the black KSO's at a local shop, and they were really sick. They hold up really well and feel super comfortable, the only problem I've had with them is that they're hard to get on and you're screwed if your feet grow.
