Looking to fly fish a lot more this year. Should I get a license now or just wait till the year renews? Im a student in Boulder

Just buy a lifetime license. It will pay for itself easily, and that way you never have to think about it. Also, if you later move out of state, your lifetime license will still be valid when you return home for visits, meaning you won't have to pay non-resident prices.

Fishing isn't horrible in Boulder creek or Clear creek right now but South Boulder creek is at 9cfs. If you're not super experienced in fly fishing you probably want to wait until April when the next season starts. Hit me up if you're looking for a fishing buddy though,I'm also a student at Boulder always down to toss some flies.

If you buy a license now it expires march 31st, just wait and get a new one in April. I have been checked a few times in different places throughout the state, it is worth having.
