what do any of you guys use?  i don't want to blow a ton of money on an entire lens...so i'm thinking about getting one of those attachments...opinions/suggestions?

wat size thread is it???

how much money arere u think of spending???

you could prolly look at raynox, sony, kenko or centery optics

if you look hard u could proly find a babydeath(centry optics) for cheap like 200-300

Don't be cheap when it comes to lenses. The glass is the most important thing when it comes to cameras.

I don't know much about the canon lenses, so I wouldn't know what to suggest.

well i'm not going to blow a lot on a fisheye when i'm still stuck with the kit lens.  it's not really anything that serious...

also, i'm not looking to blow more than $100, that's why i mentioned the lens attachments.  annnnd it's a 58mm thread

Lens attachments will do nothing. Just buy a good fisheye. Fisheyes are nice, and useful for a lot of shots.

I wouldn't buy a fisheye. Just buy a 20mm or something like that, it will give you, maybe 120 degrees rather than 180, and it will be way cheaper. Check on ebay for second hand or old lenses that fits on your mount. Old lenses, in most cases are just as good as the new one they put out.

Attachment are shit.

100$ for lenses is nothing, and if you want a fish eye or 20mm prime, its like 5-6 times more so save money!

I'd rather get a super bright 50mm f.1.4 or something... cheaper and plenty of angle of view.

the best you can do would be to find a photo place where you live that rents lenses for your camera and try them for 1-2 days, or right at the shop. Usely they're nice.

I have a super cheap attachment wide angle lens for my D80 and it isn't too bad. Good for landscapes and such. I took some good shots of skateboarding with it though.

Actually I might as well ask in here too. Anyone have any good recomendations for a fisheye for a Nikon D80? I hate buying lenses off eBay. I want to test all the lenses first to make sure they meet my standards. But I don't want to go to a store because I can save hundreds of dollars buying it online.

the nikon 10.5mm ƒ2.8 is a great 180 degree fisheye or you can look for the sigma 10-20 or the tokina 10-17mm i think those three lens are great to take landscape or sports pictures..i personnally use the 10.5mm and it's really great and i'm gonna probably buy the new nikon 12-24mm ƒ2.8

if u just wanted a cheap attachment u could get a raynox MX- 3000pro it says it for a videocamera but since it has the same thread size then u might be able to attach it to your camera

and they are cheap on ebay

ya its a screw on

it is made for video cameras but i asume it would work as an attachment to the end of your lens

REVIVAL. im lookin for the same thing, need a fisheye for skate photo's....
i have the same exact camera too...

well if you want to go cheap and not super fantastic, but not awful, take a look at the rokinon/bower/samyang/whatever 8mm fisheye. its all the same lense just different brands stamped on.

ef 15mm f2.8 is a great lens. just a big hunk of sharp glass and reasonably priced too, can find it used for a little over 500 in great shape. would be money well spent/invested. i've seen ef-s 10-22 f3.5-4.5 USM used for a similar price but yeah.. it's an ef-s... not a terrible price considering the 8-15mm f4L usm and 16-35 f2.8L usm are substantially more than double that price.

ninja, I'd say the 8mm 3.5 because you are most likely shooting on a crop sensor, it will keep you wider than the 15 2.8. Although if you have the cash the 15 2.8 is a great lens

Want a cheap fisheye?

this one is ill. It's a real, legitimate fishy ass fisheye for your canon. And it's cheap. It's manual focus, but that's not really a big deal, especially with a fisheye. It'll be good for you. It's a little bit of a pain to use on a canon, as the body can't communicate with the lens at all. But I know people who use it on canons and love it.

Adapters are terrible. Just save up for a little bit.

I own this exact lens, the Canon 15mm f/2.8. I love it, it's a great lens. I had the opportunity to try it out on a 5D MKII and the distortion is sooooo much more noticeable on a full frame!! Not used to so much distortion since my XTi has a 1.6x cropped frame. Anyways, if I were you, I seriously wouldn't waste my time and money on a screw on fisheye. The quality is shitty and you have some noticeable vignetting and blur in the corners. The 15mm is a lens designed with intentional distortion, has excellent corner sharpness, and very very nice image quality! I highly recommend it!

If you're not looking to spend a lot of cash don't get one of those attachment fisheyes look at an M42 fisheye. You can probably find one on craigslist for under 100 and all you need is an M42 to EOS adapter.

I have the Samyang 8mm. I found it for 140$ used but I think it's about 220$ new. Here are a couple cool shots I took with it.

I think it's an amazing lens for the price.

thats not a fisheye dumbass.

i have the pro-optics 8m. its the same thing as the samyang/falcon or a few others. its cool...but sooo soft. colors bleed like crazy

dumbass.

Finally someone who knows what the fuck they're talking about. Sure the Bower/Pro-Optic/Rokinon 8mm fisheye is alright but the build quality and optics aren't as great as the Tokina. 10mm on a 1.6x crop puts you at 16mm, so very close to a full frame fisheye. Don't bother with cheap adapters or screw on lenses, they suck and you'll regret ever buying them. Plus with the Tokina you can use it on all 3 different sensors that Canon uses if you wanted to upgrade your body. You can find them for under $500 which is pretty cheap for a good lens.

Sorry bud, the 10-17 does not work on a full frame camera. It's designed for APS-C sensors lol it says so right on the box! I doubt you could find one for under 500 as well, at least not in Canada. I purchased mine for 680 or something from B&H and I highly reccomend it too, however she said she didn't want to spend over 100 dollars. Therefore I'm pretty sure there is a decent m42 zenit fisheye or something that would be good, and the samyang isn't too shabby for the price either.

You can use it on a full frame no problem, set it to 15mm or above and you're set. Just because it's designed for APS-C doesn't mean it won't work on APS-H and full frame sensors. Also I bought mine for under $475 from KEH last fall. I highly doubt they've gone up much even with the Canadian prices. Buy the right lens once and you won't have to continue to buy more unnecessary ones until you realize you fucked up.
