Fisheye advice

I've currently got an opteka which is fairly beat up at this point, and I'm thinking about upgrading my fish at some point before the next season. An xtreme is naturally far outside my budget. What would be a realistic alternative to buying another opteka? Getting a mk1 or mk2 with an adapter or modifying it?

Learned about this one from a homie. I’ll link his IG handle too with video examples of what it looks like. Something different forsure especially if you’re going for a less

of a vingetted look.

what camera are you using? I’m about to dive back into video (i used a vx with mk1 and mk2’s way back) and was gonna just go with a opteka with spacers (for 4:3 digital). Death Lenses have gone way up in price so this seams like the best option.

yo thanks for sharing. based on that footage though it looks like there's not that much spherical distortion. Maybe I'm tripping but seems more like a wide angle and less like a typical fisheye? Appreciate that there's less vignette though

You’re 100% correct. It’s just cropping more of the image and that’s where the vignette is coming from, cause it’s a flat lens. Lenses like the XTreme are so good cause they stick out a fuck ton, so it maximizes angle of capture whilst not infringing upon the image with vignette in the corners. That’s getting into super specific details though.

What camera you running?

Are you running any step up or spacer rings? Were the fisheye clips in ON3P 6 on a mk2? Thining about buying one.

Running a spacer ring. 90% of fisheye in on3p 6 is mk 2. All fisheye clips in bmack x kimbo is mk2

Yo, a neighbor gave me a vixia hf r800. Dinky lil boi. I want to get into some filming for mtb and some skiing. Obviously need a fisheye. Anyone have experience with pimping these bad boys. Also thinking about a mic. In no rush, most likely end up rawdogging with no extras.

figure out the filter size (might say it on the camera, might have to look it up online) and then buy a like $50-100 fisheye for that thing, shouldn't be too expensive.

as for a mic, you could prob get some sort of rode mic with a 3.5mm plug, prob the best option but could be 100-200$.

43mm filter thread.

Opteka mini shotgun mic? Have an x-grip with the mount up top.

Basically any mic is going to be better than the internal mic. Just make sure you get a nice windscreen/deadcat
