Fischer Tour Setups

Looking into getting into touring since I have met a group of touring in northern Idaho. I'm a 3point5 member so I have acces to Fischer sports and have noticed they have a wide range of touring setups. I'm a pretty aggressive rider and most zones that will be toured will be pillow zones and steeps when conditions allow. My question for you guys is what Fischer setups do you guys ride and what you like best about them. I was looking at the fisher ti108 but am not sure if that would be beefy enough for the deep days since I ride k2 petitors. The other was if I got the the tour free ride 14/16 or adrenaline series for touring bindings. Most zones will be sled access then toured up to the tops.

Unfortunately I have no experience with fischer stuff other than their TransAlp boots, but your post has me curious, you touring with the Panhandle Backcountry guys?

I'm from north Idaho but moved to the Tetons right before I got serious about touring.

No but I have talked to idsnowghost and powderpanda and would like to start touring with them as soon as I get a setup.

I had a teacher in high school that tours a lot and does quite a bit of mountaineering. He's a tele skier but i don't have knees for that kind of skiing since I have had a few knee operations. We are both from Bonners Ferry so his touring grounds were from there to salmo pass.

Ranger 108ti is a sick ski.

Their tech bindings are rebranded Dynafit and Hagn.

Hannable series of skis is sweet. Their race bindings are pure sex for the light weight minimalistic style. Great toe retention.

No experience with their skins.

I tour on the east coast with mens's fisher mavens from a few years ago. On paper not even close to a "touring" ski, actually is supposed to be a pipe ski. Anyway, picked them up for a good price and the weight was good, at the time didn't need anything more then 90 under foot, and liked the twin tip rocker/camber pairing. I use marker f12 tours with them if that helps at all.

rangers are an amazing ski. theyre a ski thats gonna send it as hard as any other but be light enough to get up to the top. the ranger series as a whole floats better than other skis in its width category. i think the 108 would work for most days, but the deepest of the deep days. its a great ski for what you described. sled access zones then skin to the top. not sure if you were looking at the profoil skins or not, but i would stay away from them. you have 3point5 so you can access k2 skins through bca so might as well grab those. as per the bindings, theyre very good, not as beefy as a salomon guardian but willl 100% do the job.

personally i have the ranger 98s in a 188 with guardian 16 mounted and fischer ranger 12s coming in soon. i live on the east coast so powder is hard to come by. however these 98s have been more than enough for 3 feet of fresh. the bases that have seen more than their fair share of rocks, have held up amazing. one thing is is you might want to look into setting the mount back a few cm from factory recommended. the mount point is really good for east coast as it is a little bit further forward which helps with the tight trees. not sure if thats what you want but if not a few cm back could help with more open skiing.

such an unrecognized amazing ski. 10/10 would recommend.

fischer ranger 12s coming in soon

Jealous. I tried them on and really liked them, but eventually decided they were too big. They're a little softer than I expected, especially seeing as the vacuum plastic isn't supposed to stiffen up with cold as most do, but they were definitely enough to provide the support I needed. Hopefully they start carrying them in a 22.5 soon. But seeing as they don't even have their women's touring boots in a 22.5 I don't have much hope for any of their unisex ones.

yeah, ive always wanted the ranger cause of the vacuum fit but theyre soft like all vacuum plastic and they were always short which really didn't help. so this year when they finally made it a decent height with a good powerstrap i just had to pull the trigger.
