Fischer "hole ski"

if this is a repost, i apologize....i didn't see anything when i searchbarred it

sooooo i just got my copy of ski racing magazine's 09 buyers guide. and i see this goofy picture of a ski with a hole at the tip. apparently fischer unveiled this "hole ski" for mes slalom skis last year and are now making it available in all of thier race skis. I know im talking about race skis, i still race, don't hate, i just thought it was interesting.....

"the ski has a hole at the tip and a half moon cut out at the tail. These two shapes working together help reduce the vibration of the ski by 25 percent. Along with vibration reduction, Fischer has taken wieght from the extremities of the ski and refocused underfoot. This provides improved swing wieght for faster transition edge-to-edge. It also gives you more power and better grip"

I also heard somewhere that a long time ago another company tried to do this with thier skis as well.

so what do you think? is it bogus? or is it a good idea? has anyone experiences skiing on them?? do you think more companies will start doing this? will it go beyond race skis?

i'll try to find some pics

discuss.....

they are fine, if you dont go anywere but the course, if you are skiing in snow that is a little soft you will be sopping wet by the end of the day, the hole directs the spray directly at your crotch. i would get the race tigers or dynastars

yea i saw this prolly 4 years ago, pretty sure it was a smaller company, want to say stockli but maybe not. they look ridiculous and give no real advantage... racers beware of the silly marketing ploy

i skied the fischer race line-up at the end of last season and they were surprisingly sick compared to their counterparts from other companies. now i'm a big guy and found the skis to be a little soft for my liking but they were super quick and lively edge to edge. my only complaint was theat they didn't give me the feedback i was looking for but that's just because of my size and skiing style.

whether the holes had something to do with it is completely unknown to me. all i know is that fischer makes a fucking dope race ski and i really like what i am seeing coming out of that company.

this probably wont post right so heres the url, found a pic of the rc4s with the holes

i saw a picture of these and if you get into anything but groomed, you are screwed. the hole starts like 1 centimeter up the tip. would not want to go through death cookies with those

yea i think the normal fischer race skis are really great...i like them a lot better than my rossis...definitely better edge to edge....some people would disagree but whatever...

but im pretty sure the hole thing is just a gimmick as well...i mean skiers are under so much force and have so much vibration that 25% vibration reduction i dont think would make that big a difference....and there are other factors that have a bigger role in having the fastest time down the hill

BEST SKI EVER. Tried them out at hood this year and they didnt even compare. smoothest thing around and plus they look tight. if i were u i would snatch a pair of those.

no i used them at hood and skiing down at the end of the day through all the slop and shit was no problem. all they did were spray a little snow onto ur face and i used them in a rutted up course they work fine. dont need to worry about that shit because im sure they have tested all that

yea i think it is just the pic that makes the hole look like it starts way at the bottom of the tip. but i still wouldnt take them in the death cookies. that shit gets gnarly, at least at my mountain after the snowcat goes down the side, especially in the early season when they are moving the snowguns
