hey all,

how do you think about it?

All the good pros from Northern America won't attempt there, and there will be no Event in Northern America. I think the FIS is spreading their fingers to a thing that doesn't belong to the FIS. They will ruin the spirit of the sport, when they make fucking stupid rules. And they will make stupid rules...

The next thing is, when halfpipe will be olympic, imagine what kind of people will attempt there?

Noone of the good pros, they're not gonna ski 2 years for the qualification. fuck FIS

Yeah, but most of the snowboard pros that competed in the Olympics did not do the world cup series.

And they had a huge shit fight over who qualified to represent each country. It would be a stretch to say that the best athletes represented their countries.

I think FIS can be alright cause we won't let them control it too much. They need pros to compete and know if they regulate it too much they will lokk like fools. Another downside is drug tests. I doubt any riders in freeskiing use steroids or at least very few.

well that may end if lots of interest is in pipe at a high level..it will funnel to a national level and then state/provincal..meaning consistent pipes to session.

who cares if pros compete...they do what they wnat..but fis will show us what the Euros have been doing in the last few years...gettin good! do yuo all think candide is the only one that can boost 20 feet out? i don't..

Euro is going to make the pros keep progressing. bring on some fis/

i think its a grat idea. The FIS wont ruin skiing again because there are many contests in freeskiing that have no association with the FIS.

The FIS fucked our sport and limited it's growth in the 70's. Are we gonna let them fuck it another time? I think not. The FIS doesn't worry about freeskiing's future, it worries about it's future and it's precious TV revenues. With moguls and racing and Aerials in decline of mass media attention, it is only natural that this organization tries to diversify it's assets. With Skiercross, Big Air and HalfPipe it's found it's new cow to milk. I wouldn't touch that comp with a 100ft pole and if i was motivated enough, i would prevent people from competing in it by sabotaging the facilities and throwing stunts 'a la Greenpeace'. FIS sty the fuck away from my sport.

 
I agree, they had their chance and they totally botched it and made skiing an international joke. Since then we've taken things into our own hands and skiing has grown by leaps and bounds and is getting a much better image.

It's true that FIS has screwed up freestyle in the past, and they've pissed off snowboarders, too, but for the most part they are now adapting to the new realities of professional snow sports. For example, pro snowboarders were not required to compete in all of the World Cup events to qualify for the Olympics but instead compete in a qualifier event that didn't conflict with things like the X-Games. Pros and others are currently helping to change FIS' old ways. There's a long way to go, but the opportunity for new freestylers to compete in the Olympics is worth the effort.

Suggestions such as, 'i would prevent people from competing in it by sabotaging the facilities and throwing stunts 'a la Greenpeace'' is pure ignorant insanity. Is that how you propose to get your message across? Do you think that you're actually doing the athletes a favour? And how does a statement like, 'FIS sty the fuck away from my sport' help the situation? I didn't know any one person held ownership over the sport of skiing. Wake up and realize that unless you're helping to progress the situation then you're just a shit disturber.

 
FIS DID FUCK OUR SPORT OVER ROYALY. but the only reason im all for this world cup halfpipe is because i can go to europe and personally i think that it wouldn't really affect anything, because we wont let it.

skiing is so hot right now!!!
