FIRSTDROP VS. SAGA

I no saga has bean around a lot longer and more people have it but at the rate that firstdrop is selling full suits and talls, hoodies ect, theirs really not a doubt in my mind that they will soon each be of equal quality and popularity. So NS what do you think.

this is all based on second hand info, but first drop is more durable than saga. saga is thinner material/easier to rip and shit. but i also dislike the first drop jackets, just a personal thing. sickest setup available right now imo is a saga black jacket (i forget their names) with first drop blue pants.

First Drop has really good material (warm, dry, durable) but their stiching kinda sucked this year. Saga rips too but in the material which is worse. Overall I'd give them aboout even quality but First Drop is warmer and I like how it looks more

ive owned 2 saga suits, this years quality is very good, the only rip i have is one that was caused by a knfe sharp branch that even broke the skin. saga is 20k/20k, FD is 8k/8k, so saga wins there. ive been hearing of issues with the stitching on FD, ive had no issues with my saga. my suit is also quite warm for how thin it is, but the thinness alows me not to get super hot while hiking.

so in my eyes, saga destroys FD

I own this years saga suit and i have to say i am satisfied with it but there are a few problems to note.

The material is pretty thin so my edges have made small to medium slits on my pants. Also, some of the material seems to be wearing down pretty quickly considering ive only done 16 days of skiing and brought this suit brand new this year. The threads on my sleeves have come loose rather quickly but ive been able to touch it up so that it doesnt get worse.

Apart from that durability issue, saga is awesome, its super light and waterproof. I've had no problems with being cold in a saga suit and their customer service is amazing through my experience.

my sessions pants with noticeably thicker material had the tiny edge slits all over them after about a week..

yeah i understand that its natural but ive gotten more cuts on my saga pants this year then orage pants last year. just a note, and i remember reading someones review of this years saga. He mentioned that he rested his ski ontop of his lap and even that caused an edge cut.

First drop feels like splash pants to me, not like snow pant should feel like. I was super satisfied with my saga when I was a true gangster. So saga ftw.

totally agree man. the material is really thin and i am have a few dime sized holes and cuts. i guess thats what happens when you get baggy pants and hit rails all the time though.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Not sure what Saga changed about the new 10/11 stuff but just wanted to comment that our new 10/11 gear is totally different and doesn't even compare to our stuff last year. We now have:
- super thick, durable, totally new fabric- 20k- fully taped, seam sealed seams- more bar tacked stitching in critical points- improved fit so there is less stress on the crotch, etc.- better thread, better construction- better accessories (magnets, zippers, velcro, clasps, etc)- new warranty, covers you for a full season.- free repair for life on anything that isn't covered by warranty (you pay shipping)
If you guys liked our stuff last year, you'll be blown away by this years. We hope you'll give it a shot!

After buying last years suit and having it rip the first day, and dealing with your customer service I will never buy a suit from you again

i hate to call-out, but i'm just gonna have to do it ...
http://www.firstdropouterwear.com/fd/warranty.html

you say online you split the price of repair 50/50 with customer, +shipping. which is the real deal?
also, with all the talk about how warm the pants are: are they too warm for tahoe? as in, will i be overly sweaty, uh, down there, when its 30/40+ degrees, waiting in line in the sun?

it also says their warranty is 90 days (not a whole season), but whose counting.

also the pants have interchangeable zip off legs for that purpose.

and it is safe to say that you agree that your first year outerwear was awful and you have redone it?

if everything is new then that is starting new... so its possible the suits will suck just as much as the first years...
