First Video I Filmed/Edited (BMX)

It's not too bad but the camera is way too shakey especially in the beginning. There are some shots where you could've gotten a better camera angle IMO. Also use more filler shots, I think the edit needs some of those.

I actually did buy a tripod today (before reading that post)

and to the comment about filler shots the video was already pretty long if anything I thought people were going to say take out some clips

In a crew edit I try to keep it under 3 minutes if possible. Your edit was very long and I admit to not watching all of it. If you take out alot and put in the best of the best, with some filler, you can create a much more impactful edit even though its not as long.

For a full length, or anything over 5 minutes, I try to break it up with multiple songs.

do you know how much that bike weighs btw? I have a feeling mine is heavy as balls but i have nothing to compare it to

def get a tripod, experiment with new angles and moving camera as well. also remember that you can edit the sound. on shots where there is wind or you behind the camera making noise, most of the time you wanna cut those out or at least decrease volume. play with transitions effects too

When I tried to delete the sound it was being wierd and would delete all of it or none wouldnt just let me take out sections

bad song, and i would edit out all of the talking after he lands the tricks, like all the "OH that was sick" stuff, and just leave it in on the banger tricks

Good biking

Bad song

Cut out more of the inrun/out run. At times I felt like I was waiting to see something.

Take more creative shots, the still wide shot/wide pan gets old.

This video song suited I thought I cant put some gangster song when someone is where girl pants

in the ski edits this winter you guys will like the songs better

and yea i think I should have cut the clips a bit shorter

I think I'm filming (well getting filmed) a majority of my part tonight s

Well, who says it has to be gangster music? I don't particularly enjoy gangster music; something that's a feel good/summery song would be perfect, you know? It would give some life to the edit.

When you transition your shots, try to do it on bass hits, and use a transition other than just cut from one to the next. Don't use every single transition there is though. Pick 3 or so and keep a decent balance between them.

Definitely work on new angles, and using the zoom feature. Seems as though all the shots were basically the same. Tripods are nice too, especially when you use them in addition to zooming.

A few follow cams would be nice, but not if they are shaky as hell. Just becasue you do them, you don't have to use it. Maybe build a steady cam? I hear they work great. Google it.

You don't have to use every clip you film. Keep some of the best stuff, cause like previously stated, that was pretty boring, not gonna lie. I didn't watch it to the end either.

Maybe some sort of into/ending? I know the DFD was pretty sick, but fade it out maybe? Or maybe you did. I don't reallly remember. For the intro just get some riding shots or head shots or something.

For the audio, work on the levels. Like someone already said, work on cutting out the background noise. Try to make a big difference between the recorded noise and the music. like have the music at regular volume and the recoded noise at 30% or so. If there is a part where you want the recorded noise to be heard, drop the levels on the music track.

when I get back from italy im gonna finish mine and take into account the stuff you guys said

Get more creative, get some low shots, get some zoomed distance shots, follow cam, try to get elevated if you can

I'm such an idiot all the film tips are going to be redirected lol as I will be riding not filming

You picked a tough song to edit too, you need to keep your shots flowing with the intensity of the song. When the song is building up, the shots and tricks should build up, but be amateur compared to what happens at the climax of the song and video. You can't just throw banger shots together with a random song, you need to edit the clips to the audio, or else it doesn't work out very well. You can throw it together with rap and hip hop pretty fast, but with other stuff, especially metal due to its intricacies, you have to be very careful when editing.

And change up your angles, use some filler, and put a lot more effort into the next one. It certainly wasn't bad filming or editing for first time, but there's a lot of room for improvement, as I'm sure you understand.

I didnt edit at all to the song through the clips together then put the song my computer can preview the AVCHD smooth so it would be impossible for me to edit to the tricks with the song
