So I'm looking for a new car or truck but I can't figure out what to get i want a truck because I have a dirtbike and want to haul it in the summer along with snow for urban and im gonna need 4wd because i live in mn with all teh ice and snow. want around 100 000 miles but i only have 2-3 grand any help?
 
idk my dad would be paying around 2 grand and id pitch in money because i want a better truck and he wont buy me a jeep. and i think were gonna go look at a ford ranger this weekend but i want a 4wd manual 4 cylinder like one of those older toyota trucks
 
yea but the toyotas that have that low gas mileage and that are that cheap arent easy to come by ive been looking for a few months
 
damn there's an abundance of them where i come from. most of them you'll come across have higher miles but A LOT left in them. they are very reliable
 
toys are known to go and easy 250000 miles, so are jeeps. if you are looking at trucks, go for the V6 in the ranger over the 4banger. The V4 in the fords arent the best engine.
 
i'm from washington. and higher miles are like 250,000. i've seen em go higher. my friends truck has 400,000. and it still runs pretty good. but he takes really good care of it with maintenance and all that.
 
tacomas are tight (I have a 2001) but good luck getting one for that price mine had 60,000 miles on it and was still over 15k
 
yea thats true.... hmmmm idk i saw a mazda b-series 2300 go for 1 grand with 167000 miles i was just like damn it 4 wd and it had a ton of shit
 
subaru's are exspensive used but iv'e heard of there engine's going like 600k miles before you rebulid it. but subaru's with like 100,000 miles are still like 16,000$
 
it is but there is something that mazda did to the engine... I was doing some "research" on it and it had something to do with what mazda put into the engine that ford didnt that makes them run longer

no seriously, look for like an old f-250 around you, i mean i cant tell you wehre to look cas i dont live there, just get off your ass and look lol
 
the mazda engine is no different than the factory ford engine. Just like the probe/mx6/626 all are the same exact car from chassy down.

The toyota h22 engine in their old sr5 trucks is money. My cousins has 260,000 miles on the original clutch, never an oil leak, gasket nothing.
 
Get an older toyota 4runner/pickup. I have an 89 4runner(convertible) and it runs brilliantly. I have pictures of it in my profile. make sure to get the v6 models though as the 4cyl 22re engines are very underpowered. Another good thing about them is that they aren't slow either(not for a small suv). You could also look into getting a jeep commanche. My friend has one that is very solid. His truck is now putting out almost 300hp.
 
you have about 3 things to consider

1.) Jeep of sorts, either XJ or ZJ, maybe a MJ if u can find one. If you want longevity and powerwith decent gas mileage, make sure you get the 4.0L I6.

2.) Toyota-All the little 4 banger trucks run forever just like the jeeps do, they get good MPG too b/c it is a 4cylinder

3.) Nissian-Same as toyota

4.) FOrd Ranger-It is a ford, the V6 engine is a dog and isnt as reliable as the other 3. The electroinc 4x4 can get fucked up pretty easily.

lol id take taht i got 500 right now but im pretty sure its not going to last long cuz I'm probably gonna blow a bit on my g/f then maybe buy some ski stuff and then clothes as i am starting to run out haha... but yea im still looking for a toyota thats for sale but i havent found any in the area for that cheap
 
well there is a toyota truck 4 cylinder 4wheel drive short bed truck with a 22r engine recently rebuilt but its an 86 the guy wants 2950 yay or nay
 
ummmm... i cant think of much else i didnt read to much... its white and it doesnt have any rust except in the bed which would be fine because id probably end up getting a bed liner or paint the bed with that one stuff so i wouldnt care
 
is it a standard? and like I said before the is it the 22re or the 22r? the 22r is the one that is in the 95 and older tacomas, it won't have much power to pull stuff so dont' plan on pulling a trailer with it? is it on a website or something?
 
what do you mean standard? and its an 86 so id guess its the 22r and its got 4 wd so 4w high and 4w low so ill just put it in low because the only thing id really haul is snow and my dirtbike and for my dirtbike id just keep it in 2 high snow probably 4 high unless we pile it high then 4 low
 
sorry I meant the 22r is in 95 and newer, he might have put on into his truck though if its rebuilt. Also, you can't go over 30km/h in 4low, even in 4high you should go over 60 because the transfer case in the older tacomas/4runners wasn't designed for that stress. The only time I use 4wd is when im offroading and taking off from slippery intersections in the winter.
 
I got my Grand AM with 85.000 miles on it for 2000 bucks. Pretty sick deal, the lady I bought it from just wanted a new car, and she had 6 people behind me waiting to test drive it. It chugs right along.
 
yea basically i talked to my dad and hes like no you have to wait till summer im just like wtf so now im gonna see if i can save up the money to buy a beater with my own money and then pay for insurance then i can drive
