Haha, Tannes does kind of look like a cook. But humor set aside, I like Tanner for keeping it the way it's real for him and not giving in too much on the whole "professionalism" thing.
 
He won a pipe contest in shitty weather/conditions against a limited pool of competitors, in summer season, that was cut short.

The T-Hall is a legend, and it would be awesome to see him compete in 2014, but I'm sceptical he will be able to compete and win contests this season to earn a spot, we will see.

 
People are mad because it's hypocritical for him to always talk about spreading positivity in the sport/community, then turn around and hate on another skier for their choice in style and religious views (especially hilarious since he is supposed to be some kind of rastafarian, talking about Jah and one love all the time).

If he doesn't care about the Olympics and competition (he does obviously, and says so in Like a Lion) why lash out.

Oh well, free comedy for the community. Torin, Wise or one of the French guys will probably win 2012 and become the biggest name in the mainstream media for skiing (like Mosley and Bode Miller in years past).
 
soo many good points. i think that one of the reason people dont like seeing T say this sort of pre school style shit is cos it tarnishes his rep. or if not tarnishes takes the shine off it. No one likes to see an idol make a dick of themselves...
 
Yeah unless he can get some double corks both ways under his belt I can't really foresee him having much of a shot at victory.
 
We all know the conditions, and he likely wouldn't have placed in a normal pipe comp.... but to say he's "out of the game" is bullshit. There were kids in that comp who are "in the game" or up and comers, and he beat them. Simple as that. Yeah, Tanner isn't as good as he used to be, but that's what happens when you have two seemingly career ending injuries.

All I'm saying is that he is far from out of the game.

Boyd Easly, and Dave Crichton, and JF Cusson are out of the game. Tanner, not so much.

* I wish they still shredded. Those three are more entertaining to watch than half of the people in the spotlight today.
 
Truth.

The Olympics are cool but I became a freeskier to escape the conformity of racing. I love dubs and big spins, they can look sick and are super tech, but That 1620 in the pipe was truly godawful and if that is what is going to win in the Olympics then fuck em. There is no style, creativity, or personality in a penciled out future spin IMO, and without those what is the point?
 
Oddly you just stated that style should be a huge factor, then shit on a style that does not fit in to the box of what you think is style. That is the hypocrisy of the "style" crowd.
 
Imagine what Shane McConkey would think if he read this stupid bull shit. I understand why the athletes themselves are going to care about who does and does not make the olympic team, but all of this petty bitching really makes me wish that slope and pipe had never been accepted into the olympics. Why is everyone so god damn sensitive?

Fack the olympics... Its pushing other skiers outta the sport that dont compete but film instead... All the money is going towards future olympians ... Which we shouldnt even be involved with
 
I'm sick and tired of all the negativity towards the Olympics! Why all this FEAR that it will ruin the sport for you? "Live and Let Live". Not Inspired by this, and not Inspired by hating fellow athletes. One Love??? Righteous or self-righteous??
 
Sure T-Hall is putting out his views out there but it will never be as epic as Shane McConkey getting disqualified from a mogul competition for an inverted aerial. Did he say ok to what the organizing body wanted? Hell no! He went ahead and went back to the top of the run and redid his entire run naked. Granted he got banned from the resort but it was epic none the less.

Honestly, FUCK Tanner Hall. The guy is such a hater for a guy who projects the rasta, inspired, marijuana lifestyle.

the funny part is , everyone knows Tanner would love to be in the Olympics, and the simple fact is Hes not good enough. I think hes jealous of Torin, who is a much younger and much more talented park skier. And Tanner is living in the past, when he was actually competitive in the sport.

I just fucking hate people who project negativity, and try to bring people down based on their accomplishments and how they live their life. Im also shocked at how incredibly immature and downright idiotic Tanner hall is. Like Jesus, your almost 30 , your white, and english was your first language. Learn how to speak properly
 
Oh, and to anyone who thought Tanner had any chance of skiing in the olympics next year.... This is exactly why I knew he could never be on the team. Hes just not a team player. And this absolutely ruined any outside chance he may have had.

Ya qualifying for an olympic event is one thing. But you also have to get chosen by US freeskiing to be on the team.

For example, more then 3 halfpipe and 3 slopestyle riders from the US will qualify, and then atheletes will be chosen from those that qualify to represent the US.

Yes thats true. and thats great for Tanner. But did you see his winning run? It wouldn't have Won a bronze in the WOMENs halfpipe in X Games.

The weather was raining, windy, and super slow snow, and people could barely get out of the pipe, and there were no dubs or spins over a 900 thrown.

 
the olympics are so awesome all that money it makes for ted turner. maybe if someone dies in a pipe comp they will show the replay over and over again to boost ratings. once you get satans dick out of your mouth and realize you are now a tool for corporate america, then you will see yourself.

save the olympics for the lame sports that need it to survive.
 
I think this actually might increase the odds of the US team wanting Tanner. The olympics, like almost every large sporting event out there, is all about generating TV ratings, and nothing gets the old TV ratings going like some 'inner team drama'! I have no doubt in my mind that Tanner will qualify for the olympics, the dude is a straight up beast in the best way that can be interpreted. He's got the drive, he's in the best shape of his life, and his skiing is on point.

the fact is, 99.99% of this site has never met Tanner, they only know him through the way he is portrayed in his edits and videos. I can't say I know the guy personally, but I have had the chance to meet him- He showed up to a fundraiser for the CRJ and High Fives foundations, and to me he came across as a really well spoken, thoughtful guy. He had nothing but stoke to offer everyone there. In my mind, that is who he is, a dude who is stoked on his sport, on life in general, and stoked on helping out others. Maybe he's not as good at filtering his thoughts on the internet, but fuck it, if that's what he's got to trade for being a decent human being and ridiculously driven skier, then by all means he should stay shitty at filtering himself.

I don't blame Tanner for being upset with how the industry has become so bitch-made. Tanner is one the few pro skiers who isn't a ginormous flaming douche bag, so I'm going to have to side with him despite how immature and illiterate he is (that's why we love him, right?). If people like Jen Hudak become the face of freeskiing then we've already lost.

Pro skiers are bitches, fuck the Olympics, keep it real Bode Mille-uh, I mean Thall...

If you do get the chance to meet Tanner again, you should ask him directly to his face if he's going to win the Olympics.

The amount of fire, drive and passion that you will see deep in his eyes can burn a hole in your soul. Its verging on scary the level of determination that exists in that brain.
