Only a few more months to go! Post up your first snow pictures.

We've had some really great winters, especially 2010 when we had more snow than anywhere else. I didn't know there were Arizona skiers hiding out in NS!

just moved to scottsdale from living back and forth between breck and hood...show me pictures of snowbowls park that will make me not want to blow my brains out of the back of my head

they have about 10-15 good rails out at any point and had a 35 footer last year....not half as good as hood as I travel there often but it's all good

Shit, I didn't even know there was skiing in AZ. I'm looking into grad schools right now, how far are resorts from ASU, Northern Arizona University and University of Arizona? I have zero geographical knowledge of Arizona.

There are two main resorts in AZ, Snowbowl and Sunrise, there's a tiny ski hill near Tucson called Mt. Lemmon but it's not open very often.

ASU is in Phoenix, NAU is in Flagstaff, and U of A is in Tucson.

Snowbowl is about a 20 minute drive from Flagstaff and Sunrise is located in the White Mountains of eastern AZ. Snowbowl is about two hours from Phx and Sunrise is about three hours away.

Intersting thread. I have been looking at moving to CO after I graduate school, but the GF has been wanting to go to AZ....

Skiing is pretty good considering it's AZ, the terrain is great- lots of tree skiing and hiking into Upper Bowl. We have a terrain park, as someone else said in here, that has rails and kickers and what not. Powder days are great when we get them, and the mountain is super close to town compared to other places.

how often do you get them?

im from idaho so i can get them every weekend or can go through month long dry spells so its whatever

I don't know if it counts but there was a flurry with some minor snow that melted right away up here in the northern part of wisconsin.

I would love to ski in AZ some time though. Didn't a couple years back there was a resort in the SW that was only open for like 3 days and had to refund a bunch of season passes or was that a different state?

different state. Both Snowbowl and Sunrise always open but depending on the weather they usually dont open until mid to late december and the season usually goes to early to mid april

Represent AZ!!!!! coming into my third season in colorado but trying to get down to Zona at some point this winter to shred, I bet I know a few of you, Salter anyone? Annnd, Snowbowl Backcountry is where its at!

Damn never hit snowbowl backcountry yet. love hiking up the bowl to get some pow shots but never new if the backcountry would be worth it.

Snowbowl's backcountry--when we have the snow--is some of the best in the country. Also, Snowbowl will have four new runs this season and a snow making starts next winter.

Here's a link to the planned expansion:http://www.sanfranciscopeaks.org/sb_dev.php ...and here also:http://www.fs.fed.us/r3/coconino/nepa/2002/snowbowl/snowbowl_pa.shtml

The new Humphrey's Lift will gain have another backcountry to west side of the mountain. Unlike the southside where you have to hitchhike back to the ski area, you can ride in the backcountry off HUmphrey's to the bottom of Hart Prairie and get back on the chair. Of course, Inner Basin (northside) will always be the best.
