First ski-related knee injury...

Well, was at Lake Louise testing out new skis this year. Last run of the day, charging through the pow, tripped on a twig... And pop goes the knee.

Even though I was technically working, this sucks balls to have a blown knee so early in the season. Doc said that it might just be a dislocated patella, but can't tell until an MRI is done.

Holy shit does this ever suck...

yea im not usually superstitious but I always say ill try soemthing 2 more times then quit after one.

fucking a, that sucks man. I usually call last run if i feel like it hehe, I just try my best to make sure I dont fuck up on something gay, but shit happens unfortunately. Just being careful is all you can do.

me it was when I was 9 or 10, I wa sdoing moguls and non-parabolic skis where still the shit in moguls, but good skis where rare. my dad found new elan mbx(turquoise, yellow pink and purple) and I waas so stoked to try them that we put on the first binding we found(broken and did not released)when like 100mph, landed in the moguls, past the landing the ski panted in the snow and snapysnapy here goes the knee.

The only time I ever called last run was the last day of the season at Squaw sometime in June. Threw a small mute off one the ledges mid-way down head wall and completely busted my Salomon S810Ti's.

I have a feeling Salomon bindings suck ass whether or not superstition comes into play though...

Hey man I hear you. About a week ago I was practicing 270 off of rails and the snow was a bit too fresh/heavy.... I landed sideways at one point and tore my knee... didn't feel too bad at the time but the next morning my knee was completely locked.

I was so scared went straight to the hospital, got x-rays and an MRI as well, then had to wait 1 week to let the swelling go away and then the final diagnose. I've never been this scared in my life!! but it turned out to be "just" a partially torn MCL and nothing else got damaged, and I should be ready to freestyle again by december 20 the doc said.

The MRI guy said I was so lucky, because most people who do this, rip their ACL as well and that's the end of the season right there.

I really hope everything goes well for you man.

I called last run a season ago and the next day I blew my knee. Torn ACL woot. so after what seemed like 10 months of rehab I was back out... never will call last run again... especially if I'm going to be skiing again the next day.

just dont call it period. you can think it or think maybe last run, but never say anything about last run. ever.

Well, got the MRI done. I have no idea what's torn, but I'm needing surgery.

And where are all the hot nurses?!? I swear, more than half the nurses I saw are male now!

Fuck dude...

Youre screwed... and I feel you on the nurses... most of them are oldfucks...

But dont worry... they ussually save the hot nurses for post-op. haha.

weird i've never heard of this last run thing. but i'm about as injury prone as you can possibly get so i'll make sure to never call it again!

Well here in switzerland there's no such thing as a male nurse. My housemates are nurses and when we throw a party its 40 hot female nurses and no such thing as a male nurse, what the fuck, thats preposterous.

But seriously that really sucks about your knee man. Hang in there!!

never call last run. cuz even if you aren't supersticious. someone skiin with u is. and they'll get mad

Well, I ended up tearing the tendon that connects my kneecap to my quad muscle. They did a retinacular repair. Essentially cut a 5" slit in my knee, relocated my kneecap (which was dislocated), then put in a synthetic cord to reattach the patella to the Quad muscle. Well, I think that's what they did.

But yah, out for the season for sure.

Knees = gay my knee i had surgery still gets sore after skiing, and its been like 15 months

Yah, my doc said that I might have chronic pain after rehab. But hey, nothing drugs can't fix up right? I was given Morphine shots and Percocet while hospitalized... man that's the good shit.

Yes, the lifties in Treble Cone (NZ) were kind enough to call "3 more runs if you're fast" instead of calling last run. They rock.

I'd say MCLs rock because they grow back pretty fast.

ACLs and other shit that requires operation, THOSE suck.
