Im making my first self-Edit, are there any preferred media editing programs? And i am trying to teach my friend how to film, any suggestions other than watching edits i find? Is there an order that you should put stuff in? i.e. Rails>Jumps>Urban?

Any techniques that my friend can practice to get good footage?

the order goes: 1/2 of your backcountry shots, all urban shots, 2/3 jump shots, then rest of backcountry, then rest of jumps. then finialize with opium

First, it depends on how much money you have and what type of computer i.e. Mac or PC.

If you have a Mac, download Final Cut Pro 10, and if you have no money, get iMovie (although, you would much rather use Final Cut because of things like color correct, begin able to use multiple audio tracks, overlaying visuals etc.)

If you have a PC, go the Sony Vegas Pro 11 route, it is what I use...

Here's my newest edit for reference:

Straight Bossness; Right There from Kent Barron on Vimeo.

(ENJOY! AND WATCH IN HD!)

Also, for what you put, do whatever you are best at the most.

I know some who slay at rails so I put the doing rails, and those good at jumps get shots on jumps.

If you want your friend to get good, have him film you and see how it turns out, then harass him about what he sucks at. He'll get good quick. If you use a fisheye remember to shoot what seems to be uncomfortably close..I used a fisheye adapter on my camera for my last edit ^^^^

All in all, watch a lot of footy, get a good program (not Windows Movie Maker damnit) and have a good time with what you do.

Nice edit,

Thanks ill give it a try, im also just getting into boxes and rails and always seem to fuck up on them...just scissor and do it over and over till i get it?

More than half the features at my home mountain are snowboard and pretty impossible to get on... even though theres no snowboarders..hehe..im practcing on urbain rails atm but i suck

Don't make your edit longer than 3 minutes. It starts to get boring by then. And don't have and edit of the same trick 10 different times. Put in different tricks, or at least different angles on the same trick. But the most important part is to just have fun and get creative

are you at crystal or snoqualmie. last time i was there, there were no problems getting on the rails at snoqualmie, crystal can be another story though

Snoqualmie, the Battleship at the top and the dancebox are fine

the giant joystick is fine

the updown big pipe is fine

The skullcandy pipe is impossible

the snake is interesting

They were beuilding the bottom right when i was there so nothing there

There were the kickers, first one everyone knuckled
