First Post - Pick out my skis

Hey guys - need help finding a new pair of skis. I used to ski a bunch as a kid and in high school, but have not done much since 2011. In 2004 I bought a pair of 170cm Line Mavericks from some local Ohio shop. I shredded the Ohio hills and parks with those for a good 5 years and recently resurrected them from my parents basement to find my little brother beat the shit out of them.

I live on the east coast now and am wanting to hit resorts in upstate NY and VT, and also have a trip to

Tahoe planned in Feb. After doing a little digging I discovered these mavs aint going to cut it. Right now I stand at 5' 11" and 195lbs and am looking for a good twin tip ski that can handle most east coast runs and that I can still use in the park.

Right now I am looking at the 185cm Chronics, but wanted to post on here before I pulled the trigger. I am also trying to pair these with a good binding and am open to suggestions. Also anyone have any suggestions for a ski shop in the NYC area?

APO Rocko in 180 would be perfect for you IMO but if you get any line ski for what you are doing I'd say the blend..

You might want something a bit wider, probably around 100 underfoot. Look into the Line Blend, ON3P Jeronimo and the Nordica Soul Rider. They will be able to handle pretty much anything the east coast throws at them, still handle themselves very well in the park, and be fun all over Tahoe (at least way more fun than Chronics).

Thanks for the input guys, I am a little skeptical about going above 100 underfoot as I probably would not be skiing much pow out here in the east.

I checked out the APT Rocko and it looks like a sick ski, just a little above my price point. Trying to keep it around 5 bills as I need new boots, and I gotta be able to pay rent next month. The Nordica's sound like a good ski too, but I am not a fan of the design.

Also I want something that I will be able to enjoy on some groomers. Reason being is that my GF will be coming out with me most of the time and there is no way she will any above a blue. Will these 100 underfoot skis chatter on the groomers?

If you are worried about chatter do NOT get the blend, look more at the armada ar7, volkl wall, and salomon suspect.

depending on the flex, the line blends would but not the jeronimo's id say they are your best bet dont be scared of the width underfoot, it called an all mtn ski for a reason ;) i live in ontario canada and im getting surface one lifes for park (112 under foot) so it all personal prefrence....

I rock my Jmos on groomers and in the park all the time. Don't be scared of wider skis, they take like 2 runs to get used to them, and then you'll have a blast on them. Honestly, the only reason I see for having sub 100mm underfoot twin tips anywhere is for a dedicated park ski that you want to spin fast with. 100mm waisted skis have come a long way and are in no way considered wide anymore, if anything they're the norm for All-Mountain.
