First pair of twintips..

Hi, I'm about to buy my first twintip-skiis. Any brands you recommend for a newbie? I've been skiing for about a year now, so I'm no expert. I'm a 17 years old girl, and I'm 5' 7" if that matters.

Any tips? shoot

She is 17 so she has stopped growing.

She said she isn't an expert and she is only just starting out in the park so getting a ski 6 cms over her head is ridiculous!

To the original poster

What are you going to be using them for mostly?

Thanks guys! i've been looking at line invaders for a while, but do they really fit a noob?

about the length, shouldn't the skis be a bit shorter than me?

Invaders would be good if you are going to use them purely in the park and 171 would be right if you centre mount them.

But if your are going to be using them outside the park much you would be better off getting something else, the chronic would probably be a bit too stiff though.

Hmm ok, seems like its either chronics or invaders I should buy then! what's less expensive? :p

And do you recommend any special bindings?

Two things are being overlooked when I'm reading the ideas tossed out. The only ski I agree with that has been sugested is the 171 Invader.

A chronic is going to be too stiff and heavy for a newer girl skier.

What about the K2 Missdemeanor in 169?

I agree, many of the skis listed are great skis but for a female beginner they may be two stiff. There are a ton of twins designed to suit the needs of female freeriders. Roxy (rossi/dynastar) makes a bunch of good stuff, Salomon makes most of their twins in a female version and so does Line. I would suggest the Line Celebrity, Salomon Temptress, or check out the Roxy line.

I've heard some very good things about ARWs, and not only for park but for all mountain too.

If I were you, I would go to a local shop that knows their stuff for park and such, and talk to them. It'll be way easier to get good info and a solid ski. They can look at your size and ask you the right questions to get a good ski. If you don't have a good local shop however, you might want to go to the reviews section here, and on freeskier.com, they'll help you too.

If you want more solid info though, you should probably tell us your weight, how strong you are, what level of skiing you are at, and whether you want a pure park ski or an all mountain ski too, as that will have a huge effect on the suggestions people throw out.

If you're just starting out in the park though, the Invader seems like a good choice. And I wouldn't go with a huge ski for your first year, you'll have trouble. Try to stay in between your nose and forehead.

You really need to tell us what you are going to be using them for, as well as your weight before anyone can make a justified recommendation.

Everyone one is suggesting the invaders and chronics both of which probably wont be suitable for you. The invaders will be too soft if you want to use them out of the park and the chronics will be too stiff. You really should look into some of the female skis suggested above.

Hmm ok. So far I've just been cruising in the ski tow, haven't done any tricks or major jumps, just some small simple ones. So i want twintips so I can drive backwards, do 180s and such. The skis I have now pretty much suck. I'm about 132 pounds

I love driving backwards.

:P

Sorry, I'm usually not one for ragging on noobs. I just couldn't not touch that.

Anyways, the more you say what skill you are, the more I think a Roxy ski would fit you.

oh god oh god oh god!!!!!!!!!!!!!

alright i had to say that.

maybe look at k2 misdemeanors, armada arw's or roxy skis? that's if you want a girlier ski i guess you could say. i'd recommend invaders like the rest of this thread though.

agreed.

this was my first real twin tip, and it was a good ski to start messing around with switch/jumps and stuff.
