First Look at Sochi Slope Course

He is Shaun white so he has to let the world know about his minor injury that won't be bothering him after a day or two.

The bigger the jump, the more likely Bobby will do a triple when other people are just warming up to how big the jump is.

Bigger jumps create a bigger advantage for guys like Gus, Bobby, and Henrik that hit 90 footers every spring.

Honestly, I think he is just fabricating and making up an 'injury', so that in the event that the flying potato doesn't win a gold, he can say that the course was unsafe and he was competing injured

So besides White getting injured, another snowboarder broke his collarbone in practice and can't compete now. On MSN they said they're going to modify the course after all the complaints.

I was on MSN.com and their articles are always the best.

Everyone is putting so much around White's wrist bump, while there's never anything about Hormgos' accident.

Plus the tragic news of Kim Kardashian of her being upset about dying her hair darker made the scrolling headlines.

I no nothing about golf, but I can't imagine what it is like to be a devoted fan and year after year have any real information be superseded by marginally valuable Tiger updates

....must feel a little like this

Reading the media reports about the course is fascinating. It's like they're expecting everyone on competition day to land every trick. If Shaun doesn't land a jump the whole sport will be condemned.

I no the difference between know and no. I hope there is know doubt it was a mental slip up rather than a lack of nowledge regarding the appropriate grammatical use of the two words. Mah bad; please feel free knot to correct me on grammar prospectively.

They should make really little jumps next to the big ones and give them names that condescend anyone who hits them.

estrogen booster, baby booter, kiddie table,

I don't know about the snowboarders, but the girls probably have a point. After all, simple physics. Maggie Voisin seems to throw harder than pretty much everybody out there and she probably barely cracks 100lbs soaking wet. That's just a limitation on speed and distance. The fact she is doing sw 1080s off the same jumps as the dudes....well, it is legit enough at this point in the progression of women's freeskiing.

I know most guy park skiers are like a bit girly in stature as well (5'5" - 5'10) and maybe 150-175 (congrats anybody that has broken the 5'10" mark) but still that's a fair amount more weight to fling. It is definitely a low center of gravity sport.

Considering the guys that designed this Russian course were doing this during the summer.....

Maybe some of these guys/girls have a point.

it totally agree with your weight argument... given 2 similar size bodies, the lighter one will experience a greater effect of wind resistance.

But the "higher" center of gravity thing hindering ladies in skiing is just wrong. women have a lower center of gravity than men(check it on google if you don't believe me), Not to mention, if you look at gymnastics, moguls, or aerials it docent affect them nearly as much, or so it seems.

Just a thought, idk if it makes sense, but men might be better off with their higher center of gravity considering the line is pushed towards the hips once ski boots/skis are on. ??

Maybe these snowboarders that complain about the size of the jumps should just hit the little jumps on the side of the big ones...

They cut the last jump down. A lot

what pussies this is the olympics they should step up the course.

not sure why the snowboarders cant just hit the smaller girl jumps..because they will look like bitches? they already accomplished that by crying about the jumps being too big

what about the people that like it the way it is too

Hey I was thinking about Andreas Hatveit, that I haven't seen/heard anything from him in Sochi. I've seen tweets by all his teammates. He is there right??

WOW!!! check this out people, everything beiing said in this video is extremely accurate!!!!

People like Sage, Mark, Torstein and many of the other riders have only good things to say about the course. Most of the people complaining are women and Shaun, but he pussed out because he knew he wouldn't win. Does anyone know if they'll replace him?

One possible side benefit to this "dangerous course" and Shaun White bowing out is it is bringing a lot more attention to the Slopestyle event. It will now get talked about a lot on both Snowboarding and Skiing side and the "danger" will add a lot of interest.

That said, nobody wants to see a dangerous course so if the Ruskis can get the thing cleaned up and safe the only real impact will be a lot more press for the "new" event and a lot more eyeballs watching.

Beyond that, with White out on the snowboarding side that leaves very little US Competition in that event. US viewers want to see US athletes win. The Men's and Women's slopestyle skiiers have a lot of US athletes that should be in contention.

Bottom line: If people here wanted to see Slopestyle get exposure it seems it is certainly getting that.

^No there's not enough time to bring in an alternate! Just think how the next in line boarder must feel!

except 3/4 of the people watching will be watching just for an accident. the more dangerous the course, the more viewer it's going to get. Jackass yo.

I love how everyone freaks out about slopestyle being dangerous yet when people go 85 mph down an ice tube head first on a small metal sled no one bats an eye.

I expected this and can't be too mad. Realistically some technicality is forfeited so that people can talk about it layman terms. happens when every sport is in the national/international spotlight

Happened in snowboarding awhile ago. Every double is a double-cork at X-Games because nobody knows the difference between snowboard doubles.

It's a little easier with skiing to call tricks correctly but it happened too at Grand Prix and X, if it was a double over 900 it was either a switch double cork or a double cork. Announcers still call most tricks correctly (switch double rodeo 10s, etc) but I'm expecting to see a lot less of that now.

If this is legit, how pissed would you be if you trained for 2 or 3 days on this jump....and then they changed it because someone else complained....has any skier complained about the course yet? has anyone dropped out? I think the answer is no, and I think that makes me like skiing even more, if that is even possible.
