Alright so I had my first go with illustrator. Never drew that much on paper but enjoy this.

Don't know much about drawing/techniques so let me know what you think.

good/bad aspects, feedback, what ever would be great.

Thanks.

I'd say try to give the guy a bit more shape, right now he has a big block as a body. Pretty good for a first go at it!

It looks good for your first time, but try to learn some basic anatomy. Pick up a couple art books, they'll really help actually, i think drawing for dummies is one of my favorites, just breaks down what you need to learn really well. Also, just draw on paper too as much as you can, whenever your sitting around just doodle, be comfortable with lines and shapes and just get the feel for it.

i just used a mouse! i havnt draw since i was like 9, so maybe i'll give paper a shot.

and yeah i'll probably pick up a few drawing books

i do a whole bunch of computer graphic and illustration stuff, and my preferred technique is paper sketches scanned in and colored/shaded in photoshop. I usually prefer the sketchy look VS hard lines, but if you want that clean consistent line look you can trace your photos/drawings with the pen tool (in illustrator), and then delete the source image. I dont really like illustrator for drawing, but its great for technical illustrations and graphical layouts.

in regards to your work, its pretty good for a first go, but like said, computer stuff is typically tougher to do than the paper/pencil basics, and its way easier to build foundations there and then transfer it to the comp.

your style is really cool. the only thing that i find looks weird is the shoes because they really dont match with the rest. they have skinny lines and the rest have thick lines and they look kind of distorted. unless you were going for that.

yea this is what i noticed too, the legs were thinly outlined while the arms, neck, and face were thick. i guess keep that consistent. but its pretty sweet none the less!

here is some photo shop sketches i did using a mouse if you have photo shop i suggest turning the opacity down so your able to sketch and once you have a basis to a outline then to the opacity up to preference. First picture i redrew from someone on the top rated pictures so dont give me credit i just thought it was sick!

for drawing basic bodys what i try to do i draw more of a stick figure for body outline then i do various circle to shape the rest of the body, if you goodle body sketches you will see what i mean. always draw posture first then add clothes. thats my opinion anyway. good luck
