First Ever Illustrator Image

So I just got Adobe Illustrator, and with help from my bro made this picture.



Now obviously it's not good. So telling me it sucks and that I should just never touch a computer again isn't going to help . So with that being said, I'd really appreciate some tips, maybe some links to videos that have helped you guys with this program. I enjoy the program, but would love to be able to use it to its fullest potential.

Best practice I ever got was taking logos from the internet and tracing over them, eventually you pick up tricks that will make it go a lot faster

I made this for an assignment in class. It is a friend (gear) from climbing that we had to re do in a bunch of different styles.
