First Drop Skate Shoes

I have to agree with Celph_Tilted, your reviews were not very helpful. Most of what you said could be found on the company's website.

The main thing I was hoping to see in your reviews (but did not) was durability. Durability is something that you can not find on most websites. I figured that Trew would be more durable than LDC or saga.

All you really did was tell us how warm and waterproof each coat was.

How much of a brain do you lack? The point is that his reviews were unbiased. Don't you think a company website might just be biased. That was the whole point of this review. The god honest truth. It was FAR better than anything I've seen on NS. It's also damn good that he tested the technical aspects to it. Maybe you don't care about the waterproofing/breathability, but I do enjoy staying dry on pow days. Think a little before you speak.

He put far too little information on his site to say it was a hardcore unbiased review, it was unbiased, not big and detailed. he did a shower test and tested the waterproofing, the waterproofing can be found on the sites. He talked about fit, there are size charts on the sites. the only information he put up that you cant find on their websites is how much the suit weighs. In the initial proposition, he said he would focus on the durability, he just skimmed through it. And because FirstDrop didn't send him a suit, whenever first drop is mentioned, or has a new idea, he intermediately bashes it and says how bad first drop is, mostly just because they didn't give him a free suit (partial because the 2009/2010 stuff was pretty bad) It was a good idea, and i hope the site expands with many helpful unbiased reviews from different people, but what he claimed he would do and what he did are not the same.

If i'm not mistaken, smuggs was the guy that created the thread asking all the popular companies (ldc, saga, FD and such) to send him a suit and he would test it and review it for NS? I remeber seeing saga post something like yep were in.

If i wanted to know the waterproofing/ breathability I could just go on the company website. Yes, what he did put up on his website was a helpful. But not as much info as I was hoping to see. Most of the info he gave was just first impression stuff. How well it fits, how durable it LOOKS. Nothing too helpful. I did like the shower test though.

He should have taken a blow torch to his knee to see how long you could stand in fire for with it on. I know I like to stand in fire after I ski

guys this is a first drop skate board shoe thread, not an independent gear test thread, i started one of those.

if you have ideas on how to test gear that in reality translate to skiing, let me know. i did what i could with the suits and talked with alot of people about stuff also with the time alotted. gear testing is not parting the seas.

i did alot of stuff with the gear that went un documented like dangling weights from parts of the suits, but nothing really happened so i didnt write about it.

the whole idea of the test was to compare the companies to each other, and be someone other than a 14 year old who thinks their outerwear is the shit. to see how well they stood up to time and i had numerous people in the gear other than me writing about it.

i am in no way butt hurt about fd not giving me a suit to test. i did think it was a joke like i said their initial approach to the market, which i have described many times, and that was why i wanted to start the gear test to begin with. but they wanted no part. FISHY?

also anytime i posted about a gear test nobody cared so i wasnt motivated to keep pushing (look at old IGT threads) . the thing people cared most about was how to make pulled pork.

buying outerwear for most people on here is about one thing, looks. if it looks good you buy it. the only opinion you all want is if XLT is gonna look good with your 6 tall tees.

then that means any test i have done or did means nothing. but the thing you dont realize is that you the consumer are 100 percent in control, and if you buy a companies shitty product they will continue to produce products at that level because it sells. you guys are in control and nobody realizes it. demand more from skis and gear, because it really should last a long time.

but thats just how i feel i guess.

and dont think smuggs just hates on first drop, because there is a long list of things hes hated on just like most of the people on this site.

but ill refrain from cunting up these threads any longer. someone else can (and will), its alota work. i hope the shoes kick ass and that im totally wrong and they (FD, SAGA, LDC etc) put out products they are passionate about and not just products with a price tag and a label, and i hope next years outerwear is the best they can produce and last through many years of all of skiings aspects.

I agree with this and I personally like first drop. They listen to the community (minus the hate) and act on it. They've responded to every question i've had almost immmediately. That alone gives me a lot of respect for a company. And i really don't care whether they make shoes or not. I hope it works out for em.

And I'd also like to admit that i didn't read all of that stuff^^^ but I like smuggs site too. If it were to be fine-tuned and expanded, i could see good things coming from it.
