First drop negativity

he sent me the wrong shit and then told me he ran out of the colors I wanted. Also, I pre ordered and didn't get the stuff until around Christmas. I didn't care at that point so I just stuck with the colors he sent me
 
NS sucks for recommendations, and to anyone reading this who isn't familiar with NS, don't form your opinions based on some of these dickwads. Go try the shit for yourself, or listen to a source that is reliable. Most people here have no idea about the current quality of FD, and are just trying to act cool and act like they are in the loop.
 
Most likely because the guy that owns the company seems like a huge tool-bag. Albeit, an intelligent tool-bag. His marketing scheme and company seem to be working. Not really a surprise though. Tool-bags tend to follow other tool-bags, and there are A LOT of tool-bags in this world. ---"ohhhh shit! this dude is in a video with guns and girls, I gotta go get my moms credit card and get some of those pants son!" -Probably 85% of their customer base
 
Thanks for the continued support guys. Let me address the few main points I see being made in this thread:

Quality: Our stuff has come a LONG way in the last few years since the conception of FD in 2009. We have all new factories, new fabrics, better stitching, improved sizing, new features, better zippers, everything has been completely redone. We of course now offer a full year warranty against any manufacturing defects on ALL our products. As long as you don't do anything ridiculous to your gear (like cut it in half with scissors), this covers anything from stitching or fabric ripping to zippers breaking, colors bleeding, etc.

Colors: We used to make mostly brighter colors. We have always been (and will continue to be) a company that listens to it's core market (THAT'S YOU GUYS!). You said you wanted some solid colors and less bright color options, we listened. For outerwear this year we've got a solid black, blue, red, green camo, gray camo, and tan. We'll let you guys decide again this year on Facebook what colors we should make, and what ones we shouldn't. We'll continue to to lead the way in customizable outerwear, and let you decide how crazy (or mellow) you want your suit to be.

Professionalism: At no point in creating FD did I have the intention of putting on a suit and tie to come to work every day (actually, I just learned how to tie a tie this year when I met Da Prez). We party hard, travel, ski, snowmobile, make goofy videos and have a great time, but we still take our company business very seriously. We have people full time on staff to answer calls, emails, NS and Facebook messages throughout the day, every day including weekends. We ship orders within 24 hours, deal with warranties and exchanges (which we cover the cost of shipping for) immediately, and bend over backwards to make sure our customers are happy. For those of you who have dealt with us in the past, I think you'll attest to this.

We're still a really small, new company that is continuing to learn as we grow. Keep us posted with your thoughts and feedback, and we'll continue to listen!

 
i have no problem with fd. they hooked me up when i bought their mystery box and my v3 pants are warmer than my saga anomie coat... also i think its awesome how involved with the ski community they are, sponsoring stuff and hosting contests, as well as constantly upgrading their products based on feedback. the ns collab hoodies look really slick this year too.

This has nothing to do with "wearing a tie," it has to do with the companies attitude in general. Most people are annoyed by the ads and promo vids. (Especially the ads.)

 
Working the lift that accesses the park at my mtn I see a lot of different outerwear and I have to say, I stick with the fd sucks mentality. The fit of it is just...off. Its like saga, bloom and other companies can be baggy but fd is just boxy. There are too many lines as well. My opinion on how to make a piece of clothing look good is not having zippers and seams and pockets criss-crossing willy nilly across the entire thing. It looks like they ran out of enough fabric to cut the jacket properly so they sewed it together with scraps. Also the type of kids who wear it, at least out here, are the stereotypical wannabe thuglets who can't do much more than slide a flat box, are arrogant tools and never acknowledge mountain employees who just wanna know how your day is going.
 
I know more pretentious douches that ride in saga. I also don't see how there are more "lines" than on the anomies...
 
Again, this is just an observation from my mountain. Perhaps there are more douches in saga at yours. In my opinion the lines on the anomies have some cohesion. There is a definitive pattern. I've seen a lot of fd that honestly looks like "shit, that spot looks empty, lets throw a diagonal line across it" and they didn't know where to stop.
 
My experience with them is that they've got a lot of honesty and integrity with doing business, but they mess up often and in the past their stitching has been poor.

i don't dislike First Drop, its just not my first choice
 
Agreed, most of the people that hate on the quality haven't even bothered to have a look at any of the recent stuff.

I just got one of the V4 jackets in Purple and Grey, the quality is great and it super warm and comfy. Paul at First Drop hooked me up and made sure everything was sorted to get it shipped to the UK as well as chucking in a load of freebies (posters, bandanas, beanies, stickers) for everyone in my club. In all the dealings I've had with them they've done nothing less than providing brilliant service.
 
Im not sure how youre not jealous... Ski all the time, do mad traveling, and have cash pour in from a company which "runs itself" for most of the year.

I want....
 
I've never owned any fd outerwear so I can't speak for the quality. The reason I don't like it is because I hate the look of the outerwear. It's too bright and in weird patterns.

That being said, I kind of like their solid color pieces. I thought about getting the khaki pants.
 
Damn, it must be so nice being able to half ass run a company and still be able to party and travel and not worry about money. A lot of people are just jealous because despite having far better ideas and design sense than anyone at FD, they lack the financial backing that you have secured through your family.

It sure must be nice being born into a rich family that doesn't care about making their money back and is willing to let you burn their cash. That is something every kid on this forum wishes they had...
 
Ads are uncreative and misogynistic, probably due to the lack of market research and advertising expertise. I doubt they even tested their ads before using them. They should have hired someone with an advertising background at the beginning, but instead they were doomed since the day they started. The only way they could turn it around is to have a professional re-brand which I doubt they have the money for.
 
All they have to do is make better ads. Show skiers skiing in the clothes. Make comical ads as well thats have people wearing the suits doing random things.

And make the clothes smaller. The thug trend is almost dead
 
First drop is a great company, good custom support. If you don't like the gear don;t buy it but don't trash it when you have never used there product. I love fD jackets and will continue to buy them on a seasonal basis.
 
It's a company, people can talk about it however they want. If people think negatively about it then there is a reason for it.

But really, every company starts with flaws and takes some time to work out. FD is doing a good job.
 
Calling it a full re-brand makes it seem like a big deal. It would take almost no effort to make better ads and smaller clothes.
 
Their website and logo could use work as well.

By re-brand I'm referring to changing the way people feel about First Drop and to do that I think they have a long road ahead of them. I personally already don't like the company from the ads I've seen on here, and it seems like a lot of other people feel that way as well. If you're a new company and people already don't like you, that is a difficult thing to undo. It's like a kid walking into class the first day at a new school and acting like a complete tool, chances are he won't be very popular for the next 4 years.

That's just my silly opinion though.
 
Keeping an ear to the community is exactly what the industry needs. I think everyone can think of companies that have cut costs and quality while still charging the same price for equipment and not listen to what people are saying about there products. I thinks its awesome the FD is paying attention to what the people want. We need to support new companies like FD.
 
I was stoked to see my v3 jacket shipped today just 3 hours after i placed the order.Can't wait to see it in person.
 
I haven't seen much Fd in Aus, but what I have seen I've liked. If shipping wasn't so expensive I'd get some fd hoodies myself. I like the colours.
 
I never once received a fake tracking number, and my stuff was on back order the beginning of the season. As far as the customer service goes, I have never had a problem, in fact their customer service has been top notch. Just fill out a help ticket on their website, and I usually get a reply within a few hours.

And as far as your comment about FD being half the price of Saga, no idea where you got those numbers. Their prices for pants and jackets are almost exactly the same, within 10 bucks of each other.

 
^I recall quite a few people having problems surrounding their preorders, if you guys didn't that's great... But I know people who did. I have had problems with Saga customer service in the past, if you haven't, again that's great. I bought my v3 jacket for $110 bucks on sale, if you can get a jacket you like for that price, hey that's great. The whole FD vs. Saga thing is a bit of a joke anyway. I think it's funny people will come in to a FD thread and post just to hate on the company or owner whom they truely no nothing about as a person, his finances, etc... To anyone who was offended my deepest and most humble apology!
 
The thought of even one dollar going from my pocket to some wannabe thug white boy that threatens girls with bats makes me want to throw up. It's pretty simple hahaha

 
^this or there will only be saga and snowboard brands....snowboarders dont hate on core outerwear companies like the little stuck up skier kids do....

I'm 19 and I don't like first drop b/c of their ads/promo vids and the general vibe they have. Not to mention their outerwear is nothing special IMO.

If anything First Drop's target market IS little wannabe thug skier kids.
 
This thread is dumb. Lets all go back to skiing and stop complaining about things tht don't madder. I'd like to see you guys run a successful company like fd wear.

If you don't like them or whoever represents them then don't bash them.

Saga is nothing special either? What makes outerwear special? Unless its super high end i don't see why that's a good argument
 
I'm pretty jealous seems like all he does is have fun. That being said the zippers used to brake all the time and were awful
 
I'm not arguing dude, I'm just saying why, IMO, I don't think FD is a company that I would ever consider buying from. I never said anything about Saga.
 
Why do people pay $10 more for Grey Goose Vodka? Because the way it's advertised. People don't want to be associated with a trashy company. When people buy clothing it's usually because they want to fit in with a certain demographic, it's like being part of a club. FD's ads were bad, so he doesn't want to associate himself with that company.
