First Day Tele Skiing

I know this thread doesn't really have a point, but I have been skiing for ~18 years now and for some reason I have never tried telemark skiing. I just tried it for the first time yesterday and I had a fucking blast! It brings a totally different dimension to skiing in my opinion.
Who else on NS likes to dabble in tele skiing?

i tele sometimes

tele was my only option for backcountry before my news skis shipped, and i am now sick of it

its kind of fun though

you have a mad river glen icon... how have you not tried telemarking?

i usedto be into it, and my dads totally obsessed. i almost totally converted at one point, but it was just way too hard to ski park. i couldnt spin more than 3 or do more than a 270 off so i pretty much stopped

My dads into it, so I've gone, and ended up getting a setup this yr...it's really different though with the weight, but it's fun.

my friend tele's and we switched setups one night. i front 2d out of a box and put too much pressure on my tips while landing switch. my heels came up and i faceplanted. hilarity ensued. its fun to mess around with every so often, but ill keep my heels connected from now on(with very rare exceptions for the fun of it)

My dad is a tele skier. Ive tried it once or twice but never really got into it. It takes mad quad strength to do it for more than a day

teled beofore i ever downhilled.. when i was 4-6 , the last time i did it.. this guy in college said he was a better skier then me cause he tele d so i rented a pair and showed him what the fuck was up!

My tele friends can rip switch it's kind of nuts, and they stagger their feet opposite switch than alpiners do so they stick their inside ski downhill.

I've only done it a couple days, but it's definitely fun. Wish I had three lives so I could snowboard, ski, and tele.

that's sick dude! I want to try it really bad.
was it really hard on your legs? cuz that is what I have heard.
mad props for going out and trying it.

i skied in utah once with an army guy who tele skied on a bloken foot! tele skiers are badass, way more gangster than twall

Yep Tele is a great work out for the legs. My wife only skis tele.

The wife with tele. She thinks it has a unique flow.

My dad's a full time tele-er, whenever I ski with the fam (aka not park) I use his old stuff. Definately a good way to switch it up from time to time

Tele skiing is great fun, brings new magic to the old familiar runs. It feels like you are more physically involved with skiing.

i havent skiied a day on alpine skis in about 9 years give or take, and im 16 now, been on teles since i could find a boot small enough,

i was thinking the other day why i telemark, and i honestly couldnt tell you why i would do anything else

thats me by the way

but the only thing that i think is hard on tele's is switch pow landings other than that i can basically do anything else just easy as an alpine skier

I read "the wife with tele. She has a unique flow"

gross dude

but yea, tele is where it's at. Absolute best feeling in pow. when I was younger I used to hit up the ski hills just in my cross country setup before I could afford anything else. got me good at tele real fast, then soon as I was in a heavier actual tele setup it was clutch
