First day of season: how do you think you'll be

Once opening day comes rolling around, do you feel confident that you'll be able to throw down first day? Or do you think it'll take a bit to get back into it. I feel so pumped and ready for the season to begin, but will probably eat shit first run. Thoughts and predictions in here

this is how happy i will be:

The first day out I will eat shit on every rail and love every second of it.

It usually takes me a day or two to get the ol' skiing legs back, but just being on the snow after half a year is enough to keep me happy.

Dig this topic fosho. I remember last year I went to A-basin early season with some homies and the first couple turns felt suuuper weird. I thought rails would be hard but not only did I get them down no problem, I also learned a couple things that day. I think rollerblading in the summer helped a little but with that haha.

sort of a claim but im always better the first day of a season, than I was the last day of the previous season.

I find the end of the previous season you end up learning a ton of stuff. You can use the entire summer to think about goals, visualize how to do things, and reflect on what you can do differently. That, combined with the fact that the first day is hiking, which is something that I would never do mid season, usually adds up to a fairly decent destruction of rails, and throwing tricks I have never done before

Nobody is better the first day of the season than they were the last day of the previous season. Unless they were injured the last season. Are you always injured at the end of the season?

If there's enough snow I'll be hucking cliffs first day. Nothing big, just like 5 meters (~16 feet for ameritards, and yes I'm an ameritard too).

Hitting up snow flex over the months with some friends so hopefully the first day isn't brutal. Im sure it will be anyway though

alrigh br0 just because youre not doesnt mean no one is. If you read my post i gave a pretty thorough explanation of how its possible

Usually tricks are easy turning is a little weird. At least at the preseason setups. If it's legit opening day and you can turn down to the park everythings just natural. Usually throw down hardest at the start and end of the season.

But riding all summer this year so it won't be weird. When the mountains open back home

The first day of the season is always one of my most progressive days of the year because I'm so stoked I just try to send everything. Visualizing for a whole summer helps sooo much too. Completely agree with you.

I will struggle on front 2s and give up all hope i ever had of being good at skiing again.

I will be cheesin my whole first run just hitting everything mellow and then get more and more progressive as the day goes on and I get more beers in me.

Why are you using meters if you're from 'murica?

but to answer your question OP i'm gonna feckin slay it ked

it won't be weird to ski and take turns. It will feel a little weird to butter and hit jumps

I just hope I don't get toe bang again

Go to a good boot fitter and get proper fitting boots with a custom footbed and you won't get toe bang. Also keep your nails short.

Depends on what you mean by opening day. Our park doesn't open for a couple weeks after the hill.

Real opening day, it's not really that bad. I don't understand why people say it's weird to turn. Yeah we're all a bit rusty but I disagree with that. If anything it feels normal to be back out on snow again but that's just my opinion.

Opening park day I'm usually intimidated and I eat shit a lot. I don't think there's been an opening day where I haven't knuckled a jump. That always sucks. Yeah, opening park day is one of those days that sucks but it's incredibly exciting.

I think I will take it slow the first 5 runs get my legs going then start turning it up. Getting hurt early is my worst nightmare.

Hmm I am the exact opposite. I usually Huck shit for my first few weekends. Then I smash myself sometime in the next few weeks and give up, slowly regaining balls for the last few weeks.

Opening day at my hill theres always a dece amount of powder since it hasnt been touched yet, so i usually try throwing tricks that i visualized & practiced all summer on tramp or learned last season. Basically opening day ends up being a huckfest for me and whether i land tricks or not im always so stoked
