First Chair 10/12 stiffness

Can anyone with actual first hand experience with the First Chair 10's (or with the 12 tongue) tell me if they're stiff enough for skiing hard in the deepest of pow days. I've got 110flex Nordica's and I'm longggg due and upgrade- my skiing has advanced massively since buying those and I hate the feeling of flexing forward so hard I feel like I'm going to pop out of my bindings when I land super deep into the snow.

I'm planning on upgrading to the 130 flex Promachines which are sweet looking boots but I've had my eye on the first chair 10s for years now.

Basically, has anyone got the First Chair 10s and ever thought, 'damn I wish these were a bit stiffer'??

cause if anyone has, then I'll probably just get the promachines.

Have you tried either of these on with a boot-fitter?

I've tried the Nordicas, they fit and feel pretty damn good. Defintely my first choice at the moment.

But like I've said, I just want first hand experience whether the First Chairs are up to the task. If so, I'll make an effort to visit a dealer to see what their fitment is like next season.

Nordica boots don’t run true to their flex ratings IMO, but then again there is no industry standard for flex ratings. Full Tilt rates their 10 flex as a “120,” but having owned both a ProMachine 130 for 2 years and then a First Chair 10 for 4 years, the Full Tilt is 100% a stiffer boot. I’m 6’ and weigh 200lbs and never wished for more boot with the FT. If I had a 6 or 8 flex tongue I’m sure it would be a different story but the 10 is solid af.

Exactly the type of info I'm after. thanks!

Promachine was launched 2yrs ago? I've had both, first chair 10's and promachine 130's at the moment and I can tell that the Nordicas feel way stiffer than any FT's.

Oh my b I had the speed machine!

3 piece boots generally have a longer range of flex than 2 piece boots irrespective of stiffness.

The feel is very different. I would guess from what you've said about being thrown forward you refer the two piece feel.

Trimming the bottom of the plastic of the second buckle where it hits the top of the boot is a trick that can lengthen the travel of a two piece, but it still won't have the travel of a 3 piece.

Pro Machine is a stellar boot.

Fair point guys. I'm leading towards upgrading to the promachines, but I've got a fair few months to decide. Thanks.
