First backflip in the park good idea?

it's a really good idea, landing on icy manicured landings is so much easier than powder. Plus most park jumps have little lip so it's really going to help you get the rotation.

i say go for it, but videotape that shit and then post it here

backflips are the most overrated trick out there. if youve done a fair bit of jumping before you wil get it no problem.

Who cares? A backflip to skiing is like an ollie to skateboarding, you need to be able to do a backflip before you do other inverted tricks.

as long as you feel comfortable, it's ok. the only real consequence is stalling out and landing on your head. as long as you set the rotation with your arms/head/upper body and follow it through, you'll be fine.

well, you ski crystal, not my favorite, but sick on pow days, but there is soft snow to be found, you just have to hike a little for it, try travering hard away from the main area in north back, you should be able to find a spot to build a jump there, it doesn't have to be that big of a jump, make a good lip on it to help with backflips. you may also look into areas that are within short hiking distance of the boundary, just far enough to not be tracked out.

i did my first on a dryslope in france,

i doubt kickers in the park hurt more if you crash

if you are sure you'll commit, do it

and ride away smiling

No, backflip are overrated. An olie is to skaterboarding is poping on skis.

Want so great advice? dont do it.Why?

1.You will get you ticket revoked

2.If its your first, you will either over spin and crash on your neck or underspin and land on your head.

3.the park hits are waaaaaay to icy.

If you want to learn how to flip:

1.Joind a mogul team, the coaches have experience with flips.

2.work on water ramps, the injuries are less extensive.

I know hnow to flip. I will never do them in a park. I have a mesured jump and qualified coaches beside me.

Even if I dont flip, I have a great time in the park, practicing bigger spins. they will not causeas much injury if I fall.

Here is a pic if you dont believe me:

granted ive never done a backflip skiing

but snowboarding i learned backflips by trying it like 5 or six times into powder then i started doing them in the park, if you commit you will be surprised how easy they are

and the to the mogul kid

please leave NS, you are obviously gay and just havent realized it yet. Moguls are no better than racing please leave this site and stop embarresing your self with your so called advice

the reason i was being a dick

he was talking about getting your ticket revoked, practing easy tricks like backs on water ramps, thinking how dangerous backflips are, and saying to join moguls

if your going to ski park and plan on being any good, dont whine about backflips being dangerous. you shoudnt ski in the park if your scared of stuff like that

Backflips are super easy. They are just scary before you know you can do them.

I have never even done a backflip in the park though, seeing as how we don't have a table thats big enough, so I really can't help you out bro.

not all jumps are icy, why do you have to be somewhat of an asshole about it, instead of saying join moguls you could just ask some one who has done them and learn from them, not go through the trouble of doing all that extra crap.

i agree though that the park might not be the greatest decision to learn backies, powder is a much safer solution. once you get it down in pow you'll have a ton more confidence going into the park and then can take them there.

good luck

well you are surely having huge progress taking risks like that all the time?

What input do you need from coaches on a backflip? how to not land backseat on your dildo bindings ?

Backflips are not more difficult to do than say a 3, takes a bit more guts though. just start on small jumps, over rotating is a bitch

I did my first one on a dryslope a few weeks ago. Just make sure your confident doing them on a trampoline, visualise it, and then make sure you commit to it. easy

ya defineatly do it into pow OR if you are situated on the east coast liek myself, its probably best to have a chopped landing and then stepping it out. Then you are all set.

And i defineatly wouldn't recommend doing it in the park on you first try

hes got a point--if you actually want to be good at skiing or anything thats dangerous, you have to take risks and just throw the damn thing--just make it a somewhat calculated risk and don't go trying ur first backky on some 60 foot jump that you've hit once before..yoou see what i'm sayin?

I did my first backflip in the park. I live on the East Coast, so yes, it was icy. I wouldn't suggest attempting your first on an icy East Coast jump, unless you have some basic experience flipping. Practice on a trampoline until a backflip is the easiest thing in the world. Then, go to a swimming hole that has a rope swing, and practice backflips like crazy off that. That really helps with the whole moving forward + flipping thing. My first flip went perfectly. I rotated just right, and stuck the landing.

Yes, after the flip a ski patroller immediately came up to me. He was like "nice flip, but don't do it again." I was so stoked though, I didn't care.

and the best part about doing backflips is when your going up on the lift, and people are like "are those trick skis" and you say "yea" and then they say "can you backflip?!?" and you can say "YYES"

i did my first backie in the park and it was fine, if they landing is soft then go for it, i lucked out and they were blowing snow on the landing so it was super soft throught the entire thing. I also did a bunch of em on the water ramps the summer before so that helps too

do people still get their passes revoked for getting inverted? is this only in the sue-happy US or what? that's the dumbest thing i've ever heard

first time i tryed a backflip in the park was of a barrel tap jump so it was steep.over rotated landed on my back.dident hurt at all.my advice is do it of a steep jump but dont try to huck your self as hard as you can or you will over rotate.

you're not going to know how hard to throw it, and so your probly either gonna do 3/4th of one or 1 and a half on your first couple of tries. That was my problem at least, not a hard trick once you get the feel, but the learning curve is kinda steep.

I thought bumping this was better than making a new one..

If I can do a back on tramps easy, you think I could do a back on a 15 footer? I'm east coast so I don't have pow and my hill sucks so 15 foot is our biggest. Im comfortable in the air so I'm sure I can do it, but is 15 feet big enough?
