Firewire Help....wont work????

Ok

so my computer didnt have a firewire port so i had to go buy a chip and

stuff to get a firewire port so i finaly i get it all finshed installed

in my computer but then i go to my SONY vegas 8.0 and go to capture and

it cant fine my device i dont know what to do can you help me out????

control panel-administrative tools-computer management-device manager

then to the right you will see all of your devices. look for the one labeled IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers, or something similar. expand it and you will see your card. right click and you will get a drop menu. from there click update drivers.
 
but to update a driver it says i need a like CD or soemthing but ya i dont have one im so confused.....also it says this in general for location PCI Slot 1 (PCI bus 1, device 0, function 0) what does that mean
 
look up the manufacturers website and see if you can download any software for it.

and for the pci slot 1 it looks like it is saying that there is nothing in that slot, or your firewire card might not be plugged in properly. if you did it yourself you have to push it in quite a ways. I though I was going to break it at first.

ok so i got the car working and so on thats fine and such but when i go to capture nothing comes up so i called the place where i bought it and the guy said 9 times out of 10 it is the cord beaucse its so frgile and so on but ya any more tips on what it could be??
