Firewire Help....wont work????

Ok

so my computer didnt have a firewire port so i had to go buy a chip and

stuff to get a firewire port so i finaly i get it all finshed installed

in my computer but then i go to my SONY vegas 8.0 and go to capture and

it cant find my device i dont know what to do can you help me out????

in all honesty.... screw vegas. use windows movie maker to import. its super easy to set up the import, and if your camera doesnt show up in there either, then you can start troubleshooting the issue. i could never import with vegas on my computer either, but i hated vegas in general. now i use movie maker to import and premiere to edit, since premiere stops importing if you have an IM pop up and other dumb stuff like that. if your cam still doesnt show up, make sure you have the most up to date drivers for the firewire card for your OS, and check both the website for the firewire card and for your cam to see if there are any known compatibility issues with the combo you have.
 
didnt work it says that there is no deivce......when you plug in your firewire does it show somewhere that it is connected??????
 
sorry if this comes off as dickish but...

is the camera turned to the 'vcr' setting? if its on the 'camera' or 'record' mode, a lot of times the computer won't recognize it. try that.
 
ive tried like evrything...now everything is installed fine it just doesnt do anything when i plug my firewire in????????????? im so pissed
