Firetrucks kill a girl after plane crash

Didn't this also happen a couple years ago? The person got out of the plane but laid down because of injuries, then got covered by the fire extinguishing foam and run over by the truck.

Oops, didn't read the article. I guess this is a new story about the old crash that happened several months ago.

They should probably get reflective flags to plant by bodies in siuTions like this

Why in the world would the firefighters not tend to her, assume she's dead, and presumably foam her up. Clearly incompetent. I just don’t believe this.

why the down vote? you know he's right. does anyone turn to watch the tv when something good happens? sometimes. when something really shitty happens? more often than not. What gains the viewers attention...

I just don't understand why if there was a "body" in the way, why the firefighter would not have picked it up and moved it out of the way.

Surely even if the girl was assumed to be dead, he could have picked her body up and moved it out of the path of the truck.

That being said, this was a fucking plane crash. Not something emergency responders see everyday. Hopefully they learn from their mistakes, but I don't think anyone really deserves to get in a ton of shit for this. No one wanted this to happen.

Like these guys fucked up bad on this day. But how many people do you think they have saved? Firefighters are usually awesome people, the bad ones become cops instead.

That's report is bullshit. They were triaging. That body is clearly dead, and yes they should have checked the pulse, but they were more concerned with putting out a damn airplane fire and checking for other, more likely alive, survivors. It's a harsh reality of the profession.

I understand that, and that was poorly worded on my part, but to a trained professional who spends their life addressing the most severe situation first, a body PRESUMED dead, is very low on the totem pole. As I said, yes they should have checked the pulse, but at first sight, she is PRESUMABLY dead to the trained eye.

The fact that there was a crashed, burning airplane full of injured survivors right nearby shows that they still had some bigger concerns than one woman, as unfortunate as it is

Don't know many trained professionals that PRESUME anything when doing their work. That's bullshit. How could they presume that she was dead? By just looking at her on the ground and see that she wasn't moving? Shit.......

Jesus dude, how many trained professionals do you know who put their lives on the line in fast-paced, unpredictable situations to save people? They have to make decisions. If somebody looks pretty fucking dead right next to a plane on fire, the firefighters have to ignore them and focus on the plane. How would you feel if the firefighters stopped to help the girl and as a result weren't able to stop the fire, killing everyone else.

yeah come to think of it, emergency workers had a much bigger fish to fry. shitty situation, but they obviously we pre-occupied

It's terrible what happened but what an ironic way to go. You're lucky enough to survive a plane crash only to be run over by the firetruck.

Sounds kinda Bad Luck Brianish to me

Because you were there right? You checked her pulse?

Those firefighters were doing some fast-paced triaging right there, and its not an easy thing to do. The people that were inside the plane at that point were a lot more important and needed help faster than the person that was laying on the ground outside the plane. And even if they thought she was dead, you cant just start dragging and moving bodies around, the crash site is considered a crime scene
