There not gonna sue dude, they lease the land from the Gov't. Not such a great idea to turn on your 'land lord.' Any way, it didn't burn that much, just one little ski patrol shack at the top. No worries.

The Forest Service was having a prescribed burn to lessen the threat to the mountain communities, but the winds shifted and it jumped the fire break. Everyone is making it into a huge deal, but it wasn't nearly as big as the October wildfires that threatened the area. Only about 200 acres burned, 150 of which were planned.

it started as a controlled burn, but not anymore. and yes, i am very sure they will sue, not for the shitty building they lost, but for all the business they lost. do you know much ski resorts make a day??? a ton. and they just lost a ton of money.

I'm not saying that their not gonna be mad, but they can't do anything about it. As you're going up the chair lift at Bear Mtn. there are signs saying that the property belongs to the Department of Forestry, aka. the people who created the fire, therefore, they can't sue someone for burning their own property.

they wont sue for property damages. they will sue for all hte money they are not getting because the ski resort is closed.

So what happened?

Look... A mountain RAM. Staring contest. Me and you. You don't even blink do you? You win. You always do. Goulet.

big overeacted deal i doubt the mtn even lost that much money but it was pretty fuckin stupid

better to wrap yourself in the constitution and burn the flag, than wrap yourself in the flag and burn the constitution

ok. they may sue in order to recover their losses (as this fire was most likely not included in any contract signed by the resort and the government), however, suing over this incident may make the government uneasy about leasing the property at the same rates the next time the contract comes up for renegotiation. The government holds all the cards here...

but im sure the government makes more money on leasing hte property than the ski resorts will even get from sueing.
