Fireflies by Owl City

the postal service was able to be on the fine line of almost extremely homosexual but still good, this completely rips it off, and is 100% gay
 
I get the sense that a lot of people don't like em because they've gone mainstream, which is understandable. I still like Owl City's music, but Fireflies definitely isn't their best song. I'd go with Fuzzy Blue Lights, or Hot Air Balloon. Their concert was pretty dang sick though, just a huge dance party. You gotta give the guy prop's though.
 
Oh my god. I could barely take the first thirty seconds. I am usually open to most music, but that was just utter shit.
 
fyi, Owl city is one guy just creating tunes in his basement.

I like some of his songs and I respect him for making it this far.
 
I think it's a great song. The intro is cheesy, but it makes you listen further.
The rest of his stuff sounds rather the same, though.

 
actually it has nothing to do with jealousy, stop trying to offer insight and be smart, because A) no insight was offered, and B) you clearly lack the intelligence (displayed by your enjoyment of this song) to be anything near smart.

I dont hate T-pain and lil wayne or whoever else because they have more money than me, i hate them because they make fucking terrible music, just like i greatly dislike Owl City because the music is garbage and i hear the song 50 times a day.
 
I don't mind owl city but I don't listen to it much either

I dont listen to the radio, but i hear the song all the time when im out or other people are listening to it or whatever. its annoying. just like i hear fucking SHOTSHOTSHOTSHOTS 100 times every friday and saturday night.

Also i am no longer residing in the UK at this point in time.
 
I like owl city, I personally like fireflies. Its cool to see a guy from minnesota who has been trying for a while and finally made it. I think people who rip on others who enjoy the music have issues in life, because music is about expressing yourself, and everyone has different taste whether its rock, rap, country, under ground, techno, classical, there is something for everyone and that is the beautiful thing about music is you don't have to like every single type of it and you find something that you find defines you. So I don't see the need to go slamming people for liking the song or the artist just because they are different from you.
 
Indie is pretty widely accepted as a genre now. Just because it didnt start off as a genre, doesnt mean you cant say it isnt now.

For example, dinosaur jr. IS indie rock... thats the fucking genre.
 
yeah i guess you're right in that indie is accepted as a genre, but teeeeeechnically, i could start making country music, release an album under my own independent label, and it/I would be "indie". but it's still not really a genre.
 
that fact thats even possible makes Owl City incredibly gay.

and i dont think this is the case anymore. It used to be so but has since ideveloped its own sound that makes it unique

if you use it to mean "independent" then its not a genre... if you use it as a genre, it is a genre... it has more than one meaning.
 
I thought it was Postal Service. The dude sounds exactly the same. Extra gay though? Can it get gayer than Postal Service?

 
fuck you. Sunday bloody sunday has fucking meaning, in a blood red sky was an awesome album. The new U2 stuff sucks, i was born in Ireland so it fucking mean something to me. I hate the northerners but still, it was a fucking douche move on the england's and i have family in derry and the song means something to me.

It is a pet peeve when someone sings that song and doesn't know what it is and isn't irish
 
Honestly if you guys don't like owl city or any other band or genre for that matter thats ok, thats just how you feel, but dont hate just because its not YOUR kind of music. You're just creating more pointless debate about stupid topics that only concern hatred
