Is it just me or is it one of the gayest songs ive ever heard thats made it in the top 50 songs. I cant believe that it is #1 in sales for itunes.
 
pop culture is retarded. that's why they change the boards every week, because it's always the same song with different words to it.

the masterpieces are ignored.
 
I like that song it doesnt appeal to alot of people but i listen to all types music...no hate for hating it...Do you like passion pit or phoenix?
 
I have nothing against people who like it. I just think there a band that there singer is gay or he never hit puberty. And i dont the lyrics to for whats up with them singing the part "I get a thousand hugs from five thousand ladybugs."
 
Owl City sounds exactly like the Postal Service, except 50 times worse and they guys voice is more homosexual.

IMO, this is just another shitty song that sounds good, but the lyrics are just a bunch of bullshit metaphors and analogy's that actually make no sense, and makes the song have no REAL meaning. Remember...IMO. I also think U2 does this. Just thought I'd throw that in there..

Sooo soothing. listen to on the wing, and stop ripping on him just because it's really soft electronic. You're acting like he's justin fucking beiber or something. Anyone with an ear for music realizes he has talent. don't be so close-minded. let's see any of you get on the radio after years of hard work, NOT gonna happen.
he's been around for ages and has never gotten remotely big until just now, and is wayyyy christian. hows that make him a product of the music industry? i don't see it at all.
 
Im sorry but you failed hard when you said you have an ear for music and think he has talent. he is a no talent fag who makes shitty beatz and sings horribly written songs a uses a synthesizer... and then makes sure the songs sound shitty and catchy/poppy enough for the radio to like them so he can get more money.

I feel the same way. His CD will definitely be on my iPod for the days I'm out there just cruisin along. Yes, it is like Postal Service, but it's not exactly, just in the same genre. He got big off myspace, and has been around a while, he just got his big break lately. You guys all saying he has no talent are all titled to your opinion, this isn't for everyone, but neither is your crappy underground rap music.
 
I am not a fan of the music but fuck sakes guys don't hate on someone just because they were successful, they must have done something right.
 
I don't care what you listen to. But too many people aren't open minded about all music. They stick within their genre and anything else outside of it is gay.
I listen to basically everything, yes, even some country, but something about listening to "poor" people yell about the ghetto and bitches next to some grungy beats just doesn't cut it for me.

mainstream rap is as shitty a genre as whatever owl city is. theyre both horrifically bad musically, and are made for the sole purpose of getting on the radio and getting money. it is not good music, owl city fucking sucks balls.
 
I guess whether you think he has "good beatz" or not is your own opinion. not point in arguing there.
but i mean come on. his music is not remotely radio friendly. it amazed me when i heard he got on the radio. so tell me, how is he molding his music to get on the radio? his style hasn't changed since he started up in... 06 i think? passion pit is super catchy. does that mean they're just trying to get on the radio? its all art. how you interpret is your own thing.
 
i take back the made to be on the radio statement... youre taking it as if his whole mindset was crafting music that would be on the radio... however, i just meant that the type of music he makes is really kinda lame, the lyrics fucking suck, theres no originality, and its just the same as everything else that gets put onto the radio.

about passion pit, i think theyre trying to be more original than owl city and whatnot, and making somewhere decent music, but i just cant stand their style or the singers voice.
 
death cab and postal service is legit, owl city for me has too much synthesizer and the voice just isnt for me
 
the reason i hate owl city more than anything is because that stupid fuck COMPLETELY stole everything from playradioplay! who i've been listening to for 7 years and is making bank on it.

dan hunter aka playradioplay! signed with a record label, he was featured on nhl08, and made a name for himself and his style of music. when he decided that he didn't want to change his style due to the record label he dropped them.

playradioplay! > owl city.

i dont think he's makin bank, but he has no respect in the music community and i bet no one would recognize his face because he blends in with all the other emo fags or his real name

 
i don't get that at all...prp is like the definition of indie, i mean his lyrics are so beautiful even if they don't make sense. owl city is just a cheap rip off and he makes me so effing mad.
 
bass pro is so much better then cabelas, but the cabelas in owatona is sick, and the airport has a free shuttle there, so just fly in and get a free ride there
 
im pretty sure you've never heard postal service... i dont see how many bands that "defines" indy can sound anything like the garbage that is owl city.
 
that song is number 1 on itunes he is making bank, i cant turn on the fucking radio without hearing that shit. and i bet people do know who he is if they actually like him.
