Fire wire port on my computer?

You can Get A PCI card that will do firewire so don't worry if you don't have one. It looks like the middle whitish one in this picture.

What card you can get depends in large part on what type of computer you have. If you've got one you made yourself or by a 3rd party, it's really no big deal. But if you've got a Dell or HP, you need to order a certified part straight from them. I know Dells especially are iffy with what is and isn't compatible with their chassis.

damn that sucks! I have a Dell and I just got a pci card from the source by cc and it didn't work! Just found out why. Thanks.

regardless of motherboard.. the PCI card for firewires should work regardless. you just may need to install specific drivers for it.

specific drivers... like what? Can you be more specific before I decide to buy a new pci card from dell.com?

if your computer has pci slots (almost all pc's do) then you can put in a pci firewire card. If it doesnt come with the driver for it you'll be able to download it from the cardmakers website.

What I mean is if it fits in your computer it should work.

ok thanks! It does fit in my pc's pci slot, but the computer won't recognize it, it's like if I don't have a PCI card. I'll try to go on the maker's website. Thanks
