Finding IP address or AIM Identity

So theres this kid whos really mature and thinks its funny to make a fake screen name and harass me, my friends and my ex girlfriend. This has been going on for 6 months now and Im really getting sick of this shit. Is there anyway/program I could use to find his IP address/other screen names? Anything at all i could use to identify this kid? Any help would be greatley appreciated...
 
If you really want to be core, you could just go the police and they could find it in a matter of seconds and then put some harrassment charges on them. Easiest and fastest method I suppose. Don't know the specifics of your situation so I'll let you make the call..
 
I'm not sure if this can block an IP, but you can compare IP's received before you respond or something.

Google "Ping tracking" or something along the lines of "Ping" which is sending out something that retrieves information on their computer. I don't know much about it I just know that you can find info on other computers with it.
 
i dont know how to do it, but you could a) turn him into the cops like someone said, or b) search on google keyword IP adress. maybe they have some info on how to figure it out
 
i dont think im gonna go as far as the police...just wanted to see if there was a way i could find out any info, especially other screen names they use on that computer..
 
what a pain in the ass. I would say talk them into telling you. like say that you dont care anymore whatever, get them to tell you and then get everyone to turn on them. If some guys is harassing you online, hes probly stupid enough to tell you who he is.
 
Hahaha not at all. Good try though.

Pinging is just sending a signal out to a server and measuring the time it takes for the signal to bounce back to you. Though they can be used in mass amounts to bring down a server {DoS attacks), you generally need to know the IP before you can ping someone, and one, or even thousands of people doing it won't do any harm at all.

Your best bet would be to just ignore the kid or block him and he'll probably go away. The police would just laugh at you (not that they could even doing anything without issuing a subpoena to your ISP, which IMHO is a huge waste of tax dollars).
 
the way i do is i got this program called commeview pr something and it shows peoples ip addresses and staart talking to him and commeview should pick it up and it will be the ip adress with the most packets or something i havent done it in a while but thats what i do
 
i just asked my mom and she is big into online securityand she dosnt kkow of any way to do it from a sn, but could you like set up a direct connection with said person and then see what ip's your connected to?
 
commview tracks all IPs that go through you computer or out from you computer so if the person IMs you, their IP is added to a list of all the other IP adresses along with their hostname and a few other things
 
let it go on for a bit. save the emails/ aim texts. then youll have evidence for the cops when u file charges.

create a link spy

set it up in your profile with something that says, "check out these crazy pics from last friday's party" or some stupid shit. just something that will get their attention. When they click on it, it'll track who clicked it and will give an IP address and a map to whomever the potential culprit is. if you can match up the fake screen name with a real one you know who it is.
