yea, i actually really like Finch. i didn't like the crazy screaming at first, but then i started listening to Thursday and i got use to it. so now i love their music. once you get use to them, theyre sucha phatt band.

wow, yay, another little band on drive thru records making pop punk for the masses. i guess NFG and sum 41 and good charlotte weren't enough bullshit already. let's just hope this little fad will pass over without too much damage to the scene.

My bro just saw them at Warped Tour and sait they were pretty good. I've had they're CD for awhile now and it's definetly got its own sound even though it's comparable to Thursday.

i'm with line1260. i will provide an example on the whole talent issue: rancid. all of the members are damn good, and yes they were on the radio etc but they didn't change their sound for the masses, in fact they haven't had any popular songs since 'and out come the wolves' came out, therefore they didn't 'sell out' even though they were popular for a short period of time. and for the no talent side we have: sum 41. i saw them about a year and a half to two years ago and they were a puny support band for face to face (not the greatest, but ok in small doses) they had coordinated dance moves and shit and were pathetic, and basically booed off the stage, then they quickly released another album with a poppier sound (and no, they hadn't learned to play their instruments yet) and all of a sudden they're on MTV. and phrosty instead of instantly going out and saying that i'm 'gay' and saying punk sucks, think about it for a while, listen to the music, get to know what's going on or you might end up sounding ignorant.

I am saying that I personally don't believe that they are talented, and that there are many more bands out there with loads more talent that have been cast aside by the mainstream because they are a little too risque for the populous. I have listened to a very broad range of music, I have listened to finch and it reminds me of many other 'screamo' bands and I cannot say I'm impressed and I also can't say that that sound hasn't been produced before by many other bands.

hmm. i'd have to say finch and rancid are both good. just different styles. rancid is straight out punk...finch is kinda like punk/emo/hardcore. but i'd also have to say anti-flag is good.

the punk rock scene. ever since pop punk went mainstream other punk bands in order to get a venue are forced to put a pop punk in the same show, so in turn there are way more 'bros' at the shows looking for fights, the scene in santa cruz has practically died and good shows are harder and harder to come by, even shows at the gilman which is supposedly a punk rock haven have started attracting people who are just there to start shit and don't care about the music. I got a mike stand to the head because some retards decided it'd be a good idea to get up on stage and dance like morons even though they didn't even know the band. and one more thing, i really hope that sXe symbol as your icon just means you don't drink or smoke, because i've also had to deal with too many edgers who go looking for people who do drink or smoke to fight, which really gets irritating after a while..

Anyways, about Finch...they are an alright band but they and their music does transcend the categories of punk...it goes from pop to hardcore, to emo, and even that guitar dashboard stuff....but...jack of all trades=master of nothing...I could listen to a much better band in each category of music they tool with...

scenes are cool, to some extent. i have like 2 that i am a part of i suppose. kalamazoo punk/detroit skin. its weird, cuz these are people who are more that what most scenes are. when your back in town with nowhere to stay and no cash for beer, they will get you both. too many scenes revolve around being a scene, instead of a community of friends who all love music

i definitely agree with that, one place that has really started to piss me off is 924 gilman in berkeley, it's all kinds of 13-16 year old kids who want to be labelled as punks, and some of 'em just go and sit outside and drink. They don't care about the music whatsoever. From my experience the limited scene in sacramento (especially at tiny venues like the capitol garage) draws a truer and more devoted crowd, and you're more likely to actually make some new friends there, and it is expanding unlike the Santa Cruz scene which is dying. I don't go to shows just to go, I go because either I like the band or my friends are trying to get me to like a band, and I don't give a shit where the venue is, hell, one of the better shows I've been to was in one of my friend's houses. The point is it's about the music foremost and company secondly, so a bunch of assholes at shows to pick up chicks or start fights can ruin the show for everyone...

i dont have a problem with like true punk or whatever...but u guys have ure fucking posers too who try to start fights...theres so many fags at my school that think they're like hardcore punk if they get in leather and pin things to their clothes and fuck up their hair and try to start fights, so its not necesarily the music dude, theres people like that in every group of people

 
because of yout long assed signature. chainge it. cuz if you post with a signature that long for no reason at all other than to be anoying as fuck, you will be banned. there is no need for that. every post with that sig will get deleted. and if you don't chainge it you will get banned.
