I had threes down for a while but I finally gathered up the balls to do one off of a 20 footer. I'm sure for all of you, this is easy shit but it was scary for me the first time i tried it.

Sorry, I don't have a video because I was alone at the time but this is the actual jump so you guys get an idea of what im talking about.

also, is there any way to get rid of fear on bigger jumps? thanks.

cool! its just about getting comfortable on that 20 footer, and once you feel you got it down, just move on to bigger jumps.

Congrats. I don't think there is any way to get rid of the fear of trying a new trick but thats what makes it so satisfying when you land it.

i set it a bit and look around for the landing.

i don't carve into spins btw. i wanna learn them tho. they look so sick and floaty.

just practice spinning on that smaller jump, so you can develop your air sense and be more comfortable in the air. soon you will have no trouble spinning the big jumps

Congrats bro, I landed my first three like two years ago. And I remember how scary it was trying it off the big jumps.

thats when i foudn when i moved on from 10 footers to 20 footers then to 25 footers. it gets easier as u go up. u just need to commit completely

I felt the same way at the beginning of last year. That 20 footer seemed like the scariest shit. Keep on progressing!

nice work, some advice on trying it on bigger jumps would be get them stomped on that jump then started staight airing the bigger ones. Once you feel comfertable with that all it is getting the balls to try it, you do the same thing on a smaller jump just dont spin as much try more floating it out. Also you dont have to carve for smaller spins like the 360 or 540, but for me when l am doing a bigger spin l carve a bit so then l can get around on it. Thats my opinion everyone is different but when l was starting thats what l would do.

Props. I landed my first 3 this season, and haven't had the balls to throw one on anything bigger than 10 feet yet. Also haven't made it to the mountain nearly enough. Can't wait to bring it to a 40 footer and just air it out, have time to really tweak a grab.
skiing = progression
for me, at least.

nice nice....jump go to a 25 footer then 30 then so on.....but take it in steps....do 3s off the 20 footer for a while then go up

yeah feels sooo good. i can do fives off of small jumps but i didnt have the balls to do it that day.

ill definitely try next time.

props dude!

gets easier from here! and about the bigger jump thing. it is ALOT easier to spin and stuff of large jumps. more air time and all that bizzo. just gotta get comfy!

Good luck.

Way to go, man. I'm the same way, just barely did the biggest three in my life off of a 20 footer. Scared me a bit, though. I can hardly wait to try again and make it look steezier.

When you want to step it up to bigger jumps it really is all about confidence. I used to only do 3's on small jumps but then on a holiday in France I just went for it on the big ass ones in the park and it wasn't more difficult at all and the satisfaction you get from it is great. The satisfaction you get from doing it on large jumps is so worth it though!

And congrats :)

wait til u try a flip and land it ur just like well if i can do a frontflip y dont i try a backflip it feels so good to learn new tricks though

nice, i was actually thinking about this the other day and one of the most memorable tricks i have ever done was the first time i 360'd the 50 footer at my local resort. It was such a good feeling to finally spin it and felt so floaty haha.

props!

i'm finally getting my 3's down too. feels great to stomp new tricks. keep up the good work!

also... i agree, one of the nicest threads i've seen in my time on ns. way to be positive ns!

I know, right? I almost can't believe all the positive posts. Either there is a fever going around or the maturity level is going up. I love it. I'm so shocked I almost want to dis the guy.
Props on the trick. Stay ill newschoolers...Stay ill!

that fear never goes away. i didn't ski that much leading up to my winter break, but my mountain had a 50 footer so i had to spin it. the first three was so terrifying, but so satisfying, even though i had landed hundreds of 3s before.
