Alright its narrowed down to 2 skis Armada ar5 180 or 4Frnt MSP 180. Leaning towards the 4frnt. If anyone has rode both, either, seen, lifted, or has a valid opinion, please let it flow.. most likely being mounted with look p14 (any other good bindings). Ski mostly park and groomers some pow and bc hits. also if anyone at all has tried the msp's how to they carve with that giant 25.9m radius?

I have the exact same decision...

I think another thing to consider is what are you primarily going to ski with it, not what you like to do, but where do you actually spend most of your time as there are gonna be pro's and con's to each ski.

Obviously the 4FRNT is gonna have better float (based on dimensions), but I have yet to flex or ski the MSP. The AR5 has a nicely balanced flex to it, and would probably be more at home on a harder pack, groomed snow (not saying the ski wouldn't love powder too though).

I would say if you are lucky enough to be in powder quite a bit, get the 4FRNT, and if you are stuck on harder pack snow typically, then you might be happier with the AR5.

...or you could do what I did and save up and get both (already have the AR5's and the MSP's should be in the mail soon).

^thank you for the first real opinion. lucky bastard got both! bah. heres how i ski:

40% park, 20% bc hits and pow, 20% groomers, 15% pipe, 5% comps

you may think i'm kidding when i say this, but i'm not, if you can't make a decision, go for which one you think looks cooler. I know it sounds weird, but if they are pretty much the same, go for looks, thats what other people are going to see, and if you look good , you ski good. thats my 2 cents

very true... but i think they both look pretty even.

ar5's are more of an east coast ski, narrower and better on groomer...while the msp's are wider. But theyre interchangable, there isnt that much of a difference

honestly, if the decision were mine, from how you describe your time on snow, I would think that the AR5 might be the better choice (because of the limited time in powder and back-country - you said only 20%).

I think its funny that people actually do base their ski purchases on looks. I've been tempted to make a ski look hideous for soooo long, because I think too many people care too much about apperance, and not enough on skill - but that's just my opinion.

id go for the ar5, i flexed them at a shop today and they feel sooo nice

i agree on thr ar5, unless of course you really like the added stabilty of a wide platform? Personal perfrences.

but 81mm is still a great width for park.

Also to keep in mind... the ar5, athough it is the narrower of the two skis, is MUCH wider than say, an original 1080, or a Concept. 81mm of waist width is more than ample for someone that spends less than half their time in the powder.

^ I'm actually comming off the orignal 1080 in a 169.I just find that so wimpy after I progressed, too short, too skinny, too soft, not fast enough. I do ski alot of park. but I also ski super hard all mountain, fast, andagressive. I would like a nice stable wide platform, but im kinda worried it will be abit too clumsy and wont carve well with the 25.9m sidecut.

4frnt because theyre wider and the warranty is sick

^ but they are REALLY wide. Im wondering if there clumsy wide

^ anything to back that up?

its hard to get clumsy wide

The 4frnts are quite wide for someone who doesn't spend a lot of time in the BC and are the stiffest twin tip I've ever laid my hands on. If you're coming off a 169 1080, I'd say go Armada.

^ but the 1080 felt like wet noodle. I like a stiffer flex. Im dumb.. maybe i should have posted my weight/height 5'10'/ 155lbs

'well it looks like we fucked up and killed the only son of god because we're fucking gay like gay porn'

If your 5'10' then i'd go with armada, because the 180cm MSP is 92 under the boot which is real wide. Although I'm not positive how wide the 180cm AR5 is. Both skis are lookin pretty sick.

Tan, have you heard anything about 7springs park lately?

Peace, Dave

I loved the AR5s when I skied them last year, but I love the 2 year warrenty and edges of the MSPs. I wish the MSPs were like 85-87 underfoot.

since you mostly ski park and not too much BC and pow , i would go with the AR5s. the graphics are sick too.

SKIING IS LIFE...the rest is just details.

If your worried about the big sidecut dont be bec i have the fischers and they are like 25-26 ish and i can carve sick turns on em so i would say u'll have no problem w/ em but also i havent skied the 4frnt. but yeah have fun ull be happy w/ either. Also i cant remeber ur heigh and weight but im: 6'2' 175 and i have no problem w/ the big turning radius.

I'd honestly pick 4FRNTS because its just a great all mountain ski, its clearly great and powder do to its wideness, but it also can perform well as the pock rockets do on hard pack, plus they look sick and are great for landings, take-offs, and stability in the park.

I think Freezy brings up a valid option as well. The V-Pro could be a very valid option as well, not as wide under foot, fairly stiff flex, and a very solid ski all around.
