Final cut studio 2

It can be run on either. The speed of it all may be slower on MB just because of the hardware. it really depends on what you are running for RAM and what not. A MBP would probably be better for the entire studio, but it could probably run on a Macbook. Check the specs for FCS2

I run it on my macbook with no problems. All the video I'm doing is 720 60p too. I also have 2 gigs of ram.

You will have trouble with both of those. WIth HD, Color will definitely be tough. It will work although it might be slower. Doing one clip at once or something in Color you actually wont notice, but thats extremely tedious and takes forever. Both color and motion will run slower than normal but they will work. Motion will get extremely frustrating to a point. I have gotten frustrated from both of those programs running slow with 8 gigs of RAM.
Regardless definitely doable. Another question... Do you have firewire ports on your macbook? If im not mistaken the new ones dont have those and FCP is not designed to be run with USB externals.

ya ive got firewire i dont have the newest gen ive got the second newesti still think i will get fcs2 just because i will be upgrading to a pro for school anyway i just wanted to know if it was compatiblealso how do you feel fcs2 works on a high performance mac pro?is there another high end editing program you recommend over fcs2?
thanks for the help

FCP Studio 2 works great on my older 4 core 4 gigs of ram Mac Pro. It works even better on the 8 core 8 gigs of ram mac pro at work. We have both Avid and Final Cut at work and overall I like using the FCP more. So if you have a mac I would get FCP Sudio2 because overall the programs work really well together and you don't need crazy hardware to do most things. The Adobe package is good too, I just feel more people use FCP then Premiere in the real world. But you will also most likely end up using photosho[p and maybe after effects.

It works pretty well. You can load it up with multiple HD graphics cards, extremely fast processor, and up to 32 gigs of ram (not really needed). I run it on 8 gigs and really dont have any problems unless im working on some obnoxiously large motion or AE file. There really is not anything else that you need and the speed everything renders and compresses and how much you can render at once is amazing. If your just using final cut and not really the other programs all at once you really dont need a Mac Pro. It comes in handy when your integrating multiple programs. If you are getting into graphics as well I would recommend getting your hands on After Effects. I used motion for years and have just began to learn After Effects and really feel that its pretty far beyond Motion at the moment.

Yeah the Mac Pro is great for running more than one program especially because some programs can only take advantage of up to 3 gigs of ram although this is thankfully beginning to changing. Motion is nice for quick projects I feel that look great but are some what more basic. Where after effects has a lot more tools and options for creating more in depth and involved projects. I feel really comfortable with AE and have been using it for 3+ years now and almost every day for the past year or so and I still learn new things every day.
