Final Cut Pro - Yes or No?

I'm thinking about investing in the fair priced Final Cut Pro X. I recently bought a new MacBook Pro and got rid of my old iMac. I have Final Cut Studio 7 or something like that I used. I was disappointed to find out that I couldn't use it for iOS Lion.

If someone could suggest some good programs other than Final Cut Pro, or tell me about Final Cut Pro X comparative to Sony Vegas Pro 9 would be awesome!

i think there's a way you can run FCP 7 on lion. i'm not sure exactly how but i think i read about it a while back. if not, i would go with premiere pro.
 
if you can run fcp7 then that if not premiere for sure. not a fan of fcpx at all. i think its garbage but some are ok with it
 
people who torrent software are a very small fraction of the population that actually uses them. Most of these people are professionals with businesses so they buy these products, thats how they get made.
 
I've also heard rumors that companies like Apple and Adobe release their software for illegal downloads; that way, when kids and upstart cinematographers like us grow up and need a program to use professionally, they'll be more likely to choose what their used to. In a lot of cases that's what they illegally obtained as kids.
 
So back on track...I have no clue whether you can use FCP7 with Lion. Don't get X. It sucks, everyone hates it. They just dumbed down 7 for whatever reason, it really doesn't make much sense.

That said, if you want a change from FCP7, Premiere is a nice alternative. Technically it's a more powerful program than FCP as it is able to work through and render stuff faster. FCP has it on color and integration with other Apple media programs though. I run PPCS5 on a Mac and I'm pretty happy with it. It's what I "grew up" with.
 
You can run FCP7 on Lion with no modifications, literally nothing special about that. But considering your apparent lack of understanding about software in general, I'd suggest tackling something less complex like iMovie or FCPX first. Both are great starter programs, FCP7 is unnecessarily complicated for beginners.
 
I have been using FCP 7 for about a year now. I love it, but wish i learned cs5 along with it. I dont think apple is continuing their professional editing programs. Also, after effects is intergrated with premiere pro cs5 which is a major plus over fcp. They have their pros and cons

i work on premiere pro, fcp7 and fcpx and i gotta say each one has it's pros and cons. the best part of x for me is the organization of my files and how i can view them while dragging the cursor over each shot. makes it a lot easier to find your shots and simple adjustments on audio are far quicker. for most people's color grading needs it also has great adjustments that are easy to use and are effective.

i definitely see some things in x that i'd like to see in other programs. it's worth a shot and it's fairly inexpensive. there's also updates pretty often as the program grows.
 
Fcp 7 works on lion AND i think that it's better than PP, AF and FCPX...FCP is made for macs and should work better than any other editing program for mac (FCPX is maybe faster but it sucks..) I believe... tell me if I'm wrong, hahaha
 
Just because it's made for only Mac, doesn't mean it runs better than any other program on a Mac. Technically PPCS5 for Mac is made "just for Mac" know what I'm sayin? In fact, PP has better render times and faster workflow on any platform but for the pros to compare them they had to run both on equal-spec Macs.

Premier is dope but I use x just because I really don't use much effects and it's easy to put an edit together fast
