Final Cut Express problems

Hey guys,
so when i use the "capture" in FCE, i run into a couple problems.
the tape imports fine, but when i go to the "Capture Scratch" in my final cut documents...the main avi. file has a bunch extensions you must have to play the main file.
is there setting i can change that will allow me to just create one main file from the tape?

I personally don't like to use log and capture. I import all my videos then use Mpeg streamclip to get the exact codec i want to edit in. Sorry i am not sure what is going on with your problem.
 
hmmmmm ive never had that issue when i used to use fce. sorry but i am of no help. google it. i hope you figure it out.
 
you probably have timecode breaks on the tape

you could always just put them all in a sequence then export it and use that
 
thanks for your thoughts. i still cant figure out what is going on, besides the were old tapes and i just wanted to have them saved.
