Yeah, RED's probably the best route if you are just starting out, simple camera to use, easy workflow, and the auto controls are great.

ill sell you my panasonic sd100 pretty much brand new for 725 or shoot me an offer its going for like 1000 or so new and has only an hour or 2 max and some parts are still in the plastic

hit me up if your interested

Word, and if he shoots a lot the video files are going to be low profile enough to easily fit on his Mac and leave tons of space! Not to mention that he will have no computer power issues when working with them.

yeah... REDs are pro shit, starting at 17500, not to mention no body or lenses, but yeah you cant really go wrong with a canon or sony, they have some mid priced units with 1080p

I heard the new RED camera is going to be soo baller. But whatever you do get the prime lens set, so much awesomeness for such a little price.

Sorry guys, I'm new to this forum.

I thought the Panasonic GH1 was a good camera? Anyways, sorry to keep persisting but I really do want to know where these nicely priced RED camera's are, or am I just missing the sarcasm in this whole thread?

ok this has been beat to death.

yes you have been looking at the right RED camera. yes we are being sarcastic. yes you should use the searchbar and check the numerous threads that have discussed this topic.

In all seriousness buy a HVX200 and don't forget a Letus Extreme. Or buy a VX1000 and a death lens and only film skateboarding. You'll be the coolest kid ever.

Yeah, I forgot that. The letus will be the simplest way to get great looking footage. Just throw it on, put the cam on auto, and then you're set. Don't mess with complicated wide angles and fisheyes.
