Filming Randomly

I was just wondering what the law says about filming at ski resorts. I wanted to know if my filming a person I know when he doesnt want me to is legal or not. I would seem to me that by entering a public place (private property) where video cameras are allowed you are consenting to the fact that you might end up in somebodys camera.

Any thoughts?

I dont think it is illegal but if someone tells you they dont want to be filmed, its not that cool.

look at the pics i posted...

those were cut from video off a chairlift.

thats what i'm talking about

If the person is like "Dude, don't film me" and you continue to film him, thats just dick. And i bet if you used it to make money somehow it would be illegal maybe.

haha just watch habatchi king half of that movie is poached and thats a prime example of making money off filming people who dont know there being filmed.

It is illigal to film and publish someone's act or face without their consent. The best example is Jackass and the black bars on people's eyes.

You can legally use a person's image for editorial use only without getting permission. So if you work for the local TV station and you're shooting a segment for the 10 o'clock news it's okay. But since I seriously doubt this is the case you're prolly in the wrong here (plus, if you know they don't want to be filmed then that's just not cool anyway.) If you're shooting for just about any other reason (especially any sort of commercial reason) then you must have a signed release from anyone who is identifiable in the shot, otherwise they can sue you.

what about the paparazzi and celebrities? most of the time they don't want to be filmed, and people make tons of money off of those pics.

i dunnoez, they're special. But usually when you are selling stuffs you gotta have permission or you can get into tons of trouble. Maybe thats why paparazzi get in trouble all the time haha

Actually, the law makes exception to famous people...its that way in music I know. You can make a reference to a famous person no problem, but if you reference a non-famous person, you have to have their permission...then of course, there's gray area as to what classifies someone as famous, but that's for the courts to decide

Yeah. paparazzi takes shots of people, then sells them for big bucks to magazines, etc. And i don't think they work for the company. If i had to guess, i'd say they are independent.

so therefore anthoney baccon = the paparizi on skis. but insted of sticking a camera in someones face he poaches his shots through forests, the branches you see in his shots arnt for the artsy look its because hes hidding.

yes you can take film of anyone you want, and even if the authorites ask for it you don't have to give it to them, but you cannot sell that product or film or whate ever for a profit.

dude if someone says dont film me jsut dont film them its not that big a deal and its just polite...jeeze...werd.

OK this thread can die now.

The reason I asked was because B.O.B thougt he could get me in trouble with the cops for the picture I posted of him on here and I was threatening to take more. I dont film random people unless I see them about to eat shit when I'm on the lift so I can see it again.
