Filming on the mountain with 3CCD camera

i bring up my cheap camera and not worry about snow and coldness, i was thinking of using my vx2000. anybody out there use a 3CCD camera on the mountain? do you use anykind of protective skin or cover for it?
 
i've only used my vx2100 once but let your bag sit outside for a while so the camera slowly gets used to the cold, then i use a scarf to keep the snow off and keep it kinda warm, the cold eats batteries so make sure you have a big one and try and keep that warm atleast.
 
I've had my camera out in all kinds of conditions: sun, cold, snow, rain. Earlier this week I was out shooting some urban stuff for several hours while the temp hovered around 0. I've only run into two problems... condensation that occurs when I go from warm to cold environments and rain. Rain and really wet snow shut my camera down for three days while it dried out. Snow (if falling well below freezing) tends not to be a problem. I just wipe or blow it off. And yes, cold weather kills your batts much faster.
 
Get a weather hood for your 3CCD cam. While you are at it, get some extra batteries. NIMH and Lithim Ion batteries tend to suck balls in cold weather.
 
anybody know of some good weather hood's for a vx2000, and im all set with batteries i have 3 of the 12 hr ones.
 
the cold does not eat the batteries, it merely hardens the cell which cause it to run slower and work harder to keep going, therefore it runs out quicker
 
I use my VX2000 in all conditions. If I am standing around waiting for someone to lap around and what not . I just tuck it inside my jacket. body warmth keeps things running smoth. get a good pack Lowepro photo trekker or Dakin Sequence.
 
the secret is....hand warmers.

put one in your camera bag and even tape one to your battery. thats a tip the pros dont want you to know.
