I was asked my school to make highlight tapes of my schools basketball this year, I said heck ya i will and the first game is today im pumped to film and i was wondering if anyone has expieence with fiming bball games and the have any tips. (like were to setup camera, good settiings for camera etc. ) im going to try to make these edits more cinematic/dramtic then the usally highlihgts with music, im trying to get a little more deeper in the vid, get people psyched to come to the games. I was think of setting up my tripod at floor level and move around through out the game, and at halg and before the game gets some shots of the crowd and team in the locker w a stabalizer. if u have any sugesstions or tips just leave em below, thanks!

i film all my schools sporting events and basketball is always a fun one, depending on how much room is behind the backboard see if you can stand in the middle of the end line, i always like the shots i get from there. avoid the boring constant panning from on top of the stands

I'd say just move around a bunch, figure out what you like best, get lots of good close up details at 60p, etc.

Close ups are a must. A shot I really like, if you have the room, is set up just off the corner and get an almost over the shoulder type shot of 3's. When panning from the floor give yourself room in front and focus on the ball more than the player. Watch an NBA game and get some ideas!

thanks for the ideas, i got some decent shots today unfurtanltly, the bar to my tripod broke in the middle of the game so some of its hand held but not TOO shakey. ill post a little peak at what I got in a littl bit. Next week the team has some mor games and hope fully my new tripod head should be here by then!

here's a video someone made of a basketball tournament at my school from two years ago. (I made last years video but it wasn't nearly as good as this one so that's why im posting this one). it was the last year in the gym in this video as we had a new gym built so a lot of the shots are focusing on the gym and what everyone liked about it. however there are lots of great, cinematic shots of basketball that might influence you. good luck with those videos!

Those shots came out sweet, the one thing that popped in my head is to set up a simple dolly because the floor is so smooth you could probably just push a cart or whatever to have shots that move with the offense up the court.
