Filling mounting holes?+kk

Go to your local shop and ask them if that can just give you some plugs.... When they give them to you, go home and put wood glue on them and then hammer then into your ski... Then cut the top off(chisel works best)

If that doenst work or they dont give you any, just get some epoxy and fill em up.
 
I actually have to do this too. I'm wondering if you can mount new bindings in the same spot, possibly with conflicting screw patterns by using epoxy or plugs. Will the store mount them? Will they stay in? Is there something better to fill the holes with in this scenario?

(Sorry bout jacking the thread, but I think this applies)
 
you can't mount in the same place, it is a guaranteed pull-out. you have to pick forward or back of the original mounting point
 
Eh, at my shop we really don't reccomend remounting into the same holes, but if you really want to heli coils usually work fine.

If you want to remount the ski (which usually voids the warranty), then try to drill at least a cm away from the previous drill holes.

And fill the holes with plugs AND epoxy, just to make sure no water leaks into the core and rots your skis to death. I've heard of many morons not filling holes they fucked up on, and destroying their paying customers skis.
 
its just cause I have walls and want to remount them center. I'll try and get the same bindings then, but STH 12's are kinda expensive for what they are, and I'm not really loving them. Would any other bindings that may be cheaper, like px 12's, have a wider or tighter mounting pattern than the STH 12's? Kinda a weird question, but I really don't want to mount a symetrical ski anywhere but center. Any other advice or tips about remounting near or in the same hole would be good too
 
Shops will use plugs to fill holes, and recycling holes is sketch because you can pull out easier, heli coils are way legit because they are stronger than just a screw. so if you want to recycle holes, you should get them heli-coiled
 
i would just go back a few CM wouldnt change the performance of your skiing that much....however if you are dedicated to remounting in previously drilled holes definitely heli coil it.
 
no you can just use wood glue for a remount in the same holes, generally any form of glue in the holes is just to keep the water out and not hold the screw in, it's a common misconception
as far as plugging, try to get plugs from your shop or order some and put wood glue in the holes, use a rubber mallet to hammer the plugs in the holes, and then take a chisel and cut them off and then take a file and smooth them out
