Fighting

Some friends and I have been boxing every other night or so with gloves, helmets, and mouth guards. Boxing was mainly to gain strength and to learn how to take a punch. Its been going on for about 3 months and we are getting pretty competent in boxing. We want to move on the something else while continuing boxing every once in a while.

Our overall goal is to be able to beat any untrained/poorly trained person of larger size. Boxing was a good start, but we need something more practical because hitting someone with a closed fist in the face will just break hands. We don't want to have to spend money on lessons, so far we just used a few friends that box and my cousin that used to spar with a state champ in WI. So I guess we need a fighting style that can be easily learned, but will be effective in street fighting. Any suggestions?

wrestling/jiu jitsu, every college fight I've ever beeni n/seen has ended up on the ground, its ineveitable when there is two amateurs filled with rage going at each other, its punch punch punch, fall down together, try to establish position punch punch, get seperated

Kickboxing. Ive been doing it for a few months. It definately whips you into shape and you will be able to use your new found boxing skills at the same time.

swift kick to the testicles

no one ever remembers how the fight went down, only who was crying on the floor at the end

I did Taekwondo from second grade until ninth. So seven years, and i achieved black belt at the age of thirteen. I sudgest you to not do it. Its not really fighting. Its hard to explain, but the fighting in taekwondo is not really anything close to real combat.

Good luck

i trained in muay thai kickboxing for about 8 months in college and that was pretty sick. did BJJ on the side with a good friend who had trained in it, really enjoyed that a lot.

i agree with those who said BJJ (brazilian jiu jitsu), and krav maga

can't go wrong with those. BJJ has a ton of youtube tutorials on different moves and guards and such. lots of resources online if you're trying to avoid paying for full on lessons.

That's what we did bro. Thanks for the advice guys . They all look good and we'll try to get to them all, but BJJ and kick boxing will be first. Jeff nice pick.
