Femur Injury

So I managed to shatter my femur at the end of last season and had to get surgery to be able to walk again. Recovery ended up going way better than expected and recently I was cleared by my doctor to ski. They said in a few months my leg should be back to 100% strength but everything feels super sketch. I should take my doctor's word but I would like to have some input from someone who has been through the same thing. Can anyone relate? Posted some x-rays from before and right after surgery to show what I'm working with here. I don't have any copies of the latest x-rays yet.

Dude that x-ray is beyond gnarly. Glad to hear your cleared for the slopes.

If you feel your legs still sketch just take it slow. Nothings wrong with taking some nice gentle turns.

if your doctor says its ok it literally means its 100% good. doctors are pretty reserved in what they say in my experience

i broke my femur up on the femoral head december 15 last season..i also had surgery, got a rod and 4 screws put in. I was back at the end of march taking really mellow groomer laps. June 15th was 6 months and I was at hood skiing and falling in the park and everything was fine.

You're bone is all good. I can't vouch for the muscles around it. I hope you crushed physical therapy. If not you'd best get to the gym as you increase activities such as skiing. Biking and balance boards always help me come back from any leg injury for things to do outside of the gym. It also helps that 98% of my ski days involve hiking/touring and minimal chairlift time. Backcountry skiing helps achieve a healthy balance of exercise and charging.
