this issue is not only a problem in sports, but an issue in society as a whole that women are expected to be pretty and hot, and if they are THEN they get recognition for what they do. society is based on patriarchic ideas, and almost every desition made in sports are made by men. also media covers almost only mens sports. next time you watch sports news on tv, think about how much they cover female sports. and take for example college sports, many colleges cut the finances for female sports, while men get almost all of the funding they need to do sports. no college would cut down on money for the mens football team even if it would help all of the ladies teams. the way female athletes need to struggle to get attention for what they do, I can't say I blame them for doing something like sarah did in fhm, BUT it is very unfortunate that they have to give in to that. not judging sarah or anyone else, I have to say I think it's very unwise to do it. and all of you here saying that you can't see what the problem is, all of the above is the problem, that female athletes can be recognized within a small community (I think everyone on ns knew well who sarah was before fhm and have long before that thought of her as a killer female skier) but have to pose almost nude to get recognition outside of that small community. that's not healthy for any sport.
