Female skiers posing

bad. bacause how pissed would you be if someone like pep was known because he was a smokin hot guy, not because hes unbeleivable talented on skis. i feel like we need to focus on the womens progress in the sport, not on how much skin they can show. someone like sarah burke who proved herself first and is a veteran in the sport i have no problem with posing, people know that shes good and its more of an afterthought. but i hate to see new girls popping up who are known for their hot bikini shoot instead of for their skiing

yeah but the problem is guys are gonna dismiss you and be like "oh shes a phsycho feminist bitch" we need more guys to steo up and say the same thing. im not saying im against posing. just against it untill women prove themselves in the sport

I don't find there is any problem with her doing this... It's not like she is totally naked, you can't see any nipple or anything more then that. It's just picture you guys are digging way to far into this.

Uhhhh.. I wouldn't care one way or another. I wonder more what the real reason a female doesn't pose? Not enough money? Insecure about thier body? Moral Upbringing?

Oh I understand now. There is something in the water that is making all the norwegian skiers pose.... Grete, drink more of that water!

no, i agreed with what he said, because girls should use there talent and skill to get noticed not there assets. I would be really pissed of i was a girl who was really good and got pass over b/c some other showed some skin

i think i disagree...sarah burks the shit no matter wht she does. shes one of the best girls out there and thts not gonna change cuz she posed half naked for a magazine.

this issue is not only a problem in sports, but an issue in society as a whole that women are expected to be pretty and hot, and if they are THEN they get recognition for what they do. society is based on patriarchic ideas, and almost every desition made in sports are made by men. also media covers almost only mens sports. next time you watch sports news on tv, think about how much they cover female sports. and take for example college sports, many colleges cut the finances for female sports, while men get almost all of the funding they need to do sports. no college would cut down on money for the mens football team even if it would help all of the ladies teams. the way female athletes need to struggle to get attention for what they do, I can't say I blame them for doing something like sarah did in fhm, BUT it is very unfortunate that they have to give in to that. not judging sarah or anyone else, I have to say I think it's very unwise to do it. and all of you here saying that you can't see what the problem is, all of the above is the problem, that female athletes can be recognized within a small community (I think everyone on ns knew well who sarah was before fhm and have long before that thought of her as a killer female skier) but have to pose almost nude to get recognition outside of that small community. that's not healthy for any sport.

^^^^ bla bla bla..... if more women spent thier money in sports related stuff then the converse would be true... The fact of the matter is that more men are interested in sports so therefore sports are marketed biased towards men.. simple ..

I think Sarah Burke or Kristi Leskinen should make a sex tape so it would pass on CNN and shit, THAT would make good publicity.

while i agree w/ your perspective that this is a matter of society... at the same time i don't believe that burke or many of the other ladies who have posed where pressured into doing so. sometimes it can actually be fun to dress up in fantastic lingerie and look all sexy. sometimes its hard to feel sexy with baggy ski clothes, our faces all covered, and more often with some kind of bruise rockin somewhere.
